G-Power is without a doubt one of the best BMW tuners on the market, and G-Power BMWs are also usually the most expensive. Nevertheless, the company managed to sell their 100th M5 Hurricane which is not a small feat, and to celebrate the event the tuning company launched a new, special edition BMW M5 Hurricane RR 2012, based on the E60.
The tuning company replaced the ASA T1-313 superchargers with a couple of larger ASA T1-316 units, which makes the 5.0 liter Bi-Kompressor V10 engine produce 819 horsepower (30 horsepower more than the "standard" Hurricane RR) and 575 lb-ft of torque. The new edition can go from 0 to 62 mph in 4.3 seconds, from 0 to 124 mph in 9.1 seconds and from 0 to 186 mph in 25.2 seconds. If that's not a jaw dropper then the top speed of 230 miles per hour certainly is.
Besides the heavily modified V10 engine, the Hurricane RR boasts a G-Power SpeedFlow modified exhaust system featuring two racing catalysts and 4 x 83 mm stainless steel rear mufflers. In addition, the fuel supply system had to be modified in order to cope with the increase in power and now consists in an additional high performance fuel pump (for a total of three) and fuel injectors with enlarged mass flow.
Furthermore, the new M5 Hurricane RR features a G-Power RS adjustable coilover suspension system that comes with nine settings, a G-Power brake system with 6 brake pistons, 396 mm brake disks on the front and 380 mm brake disks at the rear axle. Customers are given the choice of opting for steel or ceramic disk brakes.
The G-Power M5 Hurricane stands on a set of 19 inch rims mated with 255/35 ZR19 and 305/30 ZR19 high performance Michelin Pilot Sport tires. Besides the 19 inch wheel set the G-Power comes with an additional every-day-use set consisting in a set of 20 inchSilverstone Diamond wheels with 255/35 ZR20 tires at the front and 285/30 ZR20 at the back.
As far as pricing goes there's no surprise that the G-Power MW M5 Hurricane RR 2012 comes with a large price tag, as the engine tuning alone costs roughly $72,000. Nevertheless, a two ton sedan with a top seed of 230 miles per hour is an insane feat and the price is set accordingly.
