Hyundai Sonata 2012 Review

If you’re looking for fuel-efficient, spacious, powerful and affordable midsize car, 2012 Hyundai Sonata is certainly one of the best in the category. As per many analysts, the midsize car has given a tough fight to Toyota Camry and even Honda Accord, which are usually considered to be the best in this class.

However, the exteriors of the car have practically been kept unchanged compared to the 2011 model. The car will be made available in three different trims this time, viz. GLS, SE and Limited. On the other hand, while the interiors of the car have been made quite spacious with induction of spacious back seat and trunk, the only interior glitch of the car lies with the cloth seats, instead of leather seats as compared to contemporary midsize sedans. Now, besides such interior gripe, the automakers have tried to attract young, fun-loving drivers by featuring Bluetooth connectivity, HD satellite radio, USB connection, bigger navigation touch screen and panoramic moon roof.

If we take a look beneath the bonnet of the car, the 2012 Hyundai Sonata is full of surprises. Instead of usual 6-cylinder engine, the car features either a 2.4L 4-cylinder or a 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. While the 2.4L DI engine with 6-speed automatic/manual transmission engine produces a power of 200hp, the same for the latter is 274hp, thus producing enough power to compete with V6 engines of same displacement in the contemporary sedans. Even after featuring such powerful engines, the automakers still claim to attain a fuel-efficiency figure of 24mpg in city and 35mpg on the highways.

The price tags for different versions of this sensational midsize car have been fixed keeping affordability of the target consumers in mind. The GLS version is going to cost around $19,800, while the same for the SE and Limited levels is around $24,800 and $28,200 respectively. The closest cars in this price range, having almost same features are Ford Fusion, Mazda 6 and Nissan Altima.
