The Z06 expands on the attributes that contributed to the breakthrough of the sixth-generation Corvette (C6) in Europe. The additional performance modifications are mostly derived from endurance racing, which was dominated for years by the Corvette C6.R GT-1.

Corvette came in second behind the new Opel Astra and ahead of 18 other competitors of various sizes and prices, but is clearly the leading sportscar in this category. With its 436hp V8 engine, the car could easily have won first prize in terms of "horsepower for money". However, in the value category Corvette convinced the readers and journalists with its sporty design, outstanding performance, solid build quality - and of course, a highly competitive price tag for such a high performance sportscar.

A powerful, 6.2 litre LS3 V8 engine is at the heart of the Corvette C6. Available in both Coupe and Convertible body styles and with the choice of six-speed manual and six-speed paddle shift automatic transmission, the small-block V8 is rated at 325 kW (436hp) and 586 Nm of torque, giving a top speed of 306 km/h.
