The Chevrolet Corvetter Z06 2011 is powered by a 7.0L V8 LS7 engine with an output of 512 hp (377 kW) at 6300 rpm and maximum torque of 637 Nm at 4,800 rpm. In a car weighing only 1,418 kg, the result is a 0-100 km/h acceleration of 4.1 seconds and top speed of 320 km/h.
The Z06 expands on the attributes that contributed to the breakthrough of the sixth-generation Corvette (C6) in Europe. The additional performance modifications are mostly derived from endurance racing, which was dominated for years by the Corvette C6.R GT-1.
The heart of the Z06 is a 7.0L V8 LS7 engine with an output of 512 hp (377 kW) at 6300 rpm and maximum torque of 637 Nm at 4,800 rpm. In a car weighing only 1,418 kg, the result is a 0-100 km/h acceleration of 4.1 seconds and top speed of 320 km/h.
Along with the power plant (7.0L V8 LS7 instead of the 6.2L V8 LS3), the chassis and body structure are unique to the Z06. The Corvette development team chose an alloy structure and a race-derived suspension to guarantee the highest level of performance as well as a safe and exhilarating driving experience.
According to the readers of German Auto Zeitung, the Corvette C6 is the best value for money sportscar. Every year, readers cast their votes for the best cars in various categories, among them "best value for money". Corvette came in second behind the new Opel Astra and ahead of 18 other competitors of various sizes and prices, but is clearly the leading sportscar in this category. With its 436hp V8 engine, the car could easily have won first prize in terms of "horsepower for money". However, in the value category Corvette convinced the readers and journalists with its sporty design, outstanding performance, solid build quality - and of course, a highly competitive price tag for such a high performance sportscar.
"We are very happy with the result and thank the readers who cast their votes in favour of the Corvette", said Corvette Europe Executive Director, Wolfgang Schubert. "It is not only the Corvette C6 which offers outstanding value for money, but also the Corvette Z06 and the new ZR-1, our 647 horsepower supercar which has won many competitive tests against Europe's most renowned supercars. All that and it still sells at a comparatively reasonable price."
A powerful, 6.2 litre LS3 V8 engine is at the heart of the Corvette C6. Available in both Coupe and Convertible body styles and with the choice of six-speed manual and six-speed paddle shift automatic transmission, the small-block V8 is rated at 325 kW (436hp) and 586 Nm of torque, giving a top speed of 306 km/h.
