Yamaha has announced the 2014 MT-09, its first ever three cylinder engine powered motorcycle. The motorcycle focuses on heightened riding emotion, multi-faceted character, naked mass-forward style and outstanding all-round agility, taking Yamaha into a new territory.
The creative forces that drive the darker and unconventional side of Japan have inspired and shaped the unique and original MT-09.
The 2014 Yamaha MT-09 is powered by the 850cc liquid-cooled 4-stroke 3cylinder DOHC 4-valve engine, which delivers 115 hp at 10,500 rpm and a torque of 85 Nm from 8,500 rpm. Yamaha clams that the motorcycle has the best power to weight ratio in its class.
To minimize unwanted vibration the powerplant is equipped with a primary coupled-force counter rotating balancer. Its structure consists of CF aluminium die-cast left and right halves which are bolted together at the head pipe and rear pivot areas. Other specifications include 298mm discs in the front and a single 245mm disc at the rear and 41mm USD forks, which only offer preload and rebound adjustments.
2014 Yamaha MT-09 is priced £6799 in the UK and is priced at $7,990 in the US, where it is called FZ-09.
