The Passat family adds a new sportier member, the 2014 Volkswagen Passat Sport. Volkswagen mentions that the Passat Sport is the production version of the 2013 Passat Performance Concept showcased at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show.
The 2014 Volkswagen Passat Sport is powered by a 4-cylinder 1.8-liter EA888 Gen 3 Turbocharge and direct-injection engine, which delivers 170 hp of max power and 184 lb-ft of max torque. The 1.8-liter can be matched to a five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission.
The 2014 Passat Sport is priced starting at $27,295 (€ 20,000) with the manual transmission (including $820 destination and handling), and will go on sale in early 2014.
