Seat Leon Cup Racer 2013 Review

Seat will be presenting the Leon Cup Racer at the 2013 Worthersee Tuning Show, which is prepared specially for a wide range of racing series worldwide. The 330 hp / 243 kW Leon Cup Racer forms the basis for the development work and test drives to be undertaken over the coming months.

The 2013 Leon Cup Racer is based on the five-door Leon and is covered with a metallic matte grey paint with orange accents. It is about 40 cm wider than the standard version and sits on 18-inch racing wheels and has an aerodynamic package installed to improve stability at high speeds. The Cup Racer gets a new front spoiler, a rear diffuser and a two-phase roof spoiler mounted on a support. It also comes with other series of modifications such as wider tracks, flared sills, muscular wheel arches, etc.

For the interior, it is fitted with a roll cage, bucket seats with HANS head-protection system, a multifunction steering wheel and a high-resolution TFT display.

It is powered by a 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that delivers a total of 330 HP (243 kW) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque. Power is transferred to front wheels through a six-speed DSG and an electronically controlled differential lock. It is also offered with a sequential racing transmission with a center console-mounted shift lever and a mechanical differential lock.

The DSG-equipped model starts from €70,000 ($92,000) and the endurance version with a sequential transmission and mechanical differential lock begins at €95,000 ($124,500).
