Opel Astra Sedan 2013 Review

Opel has very recently revealed a few pictures with the upcoming Opel Astra Sedan 2013, a four door Astra destined to hit the European market in September. Judging by what we've seen so far the upcoming Astra Sedan bears a strong resemblance with the Buick Verano, however Opel did mentioned that the front end of the Astra will undergo some modifications before it debuts, reason why they haven't shared any pictures depicting the front end of the car.

In terms of engine variants the new Astra will offer four gasoline engines ranging from 100 to 180 horsepower, alongside three turbo diesel units of which horsepower will range between 95 and 130. The ecoFLEX 1.7 liter CDTI models will also benefit from a Start/Stop system and will be able to cover a staggering 63 mpg. Opel also mentioned that all seven variants will only come with front wheel drive and that unlike the Astra hatchback, the Sedan will not get a performance-oriented OPC trim level.

As mentioned above in terms of exterior design you can tell that the sedan draws from theBuick Verano, but that doesn't mean it has little in common with the hatchback. On the contrary, the sedan bears a strong resemblance with the Astra hatchback, which is expected, but due to its nature it's more spacious than its little brother, it has a wheel base of 2,685 mm and a boot that offers 460 liters of volume, or 1,010 liters with the rear bench folded.

In case you're curious about the interior of the upcoming sedan, unfortunately the carmaker has not revealed any pictures depicting the inside of the car, but we can expect it to bring very little change when compared to the hatchback.

As far as the price goes Opel has not revealed any information in that regard but the Astra Sedan 2013 is expected to make its debut at the 2012 Moscow Auto Show in August, followed be its launch in Russia, Turkey and select European countries in September. That being said, the price for the different trim levels will be revealed once we're closer to the car's launch on the market.

Last but not least, if you reside in UK you should also know that thus far Opel has not revealed whether or not the new Astra Sedan will be available in showrooms in the UK as a Vauxhall.
