KTM X-Bow Battle has enjoyed racing success in the GT4-classes. Following KTM’s European Championship titles in both 2008 and 2009, the ABG Motorsport, a UK team, won the British GT4 championship with Peter Belshaw and Marcus Clutton competing against an extremely strong field of competitors. And they won by a margin of 40 points ahead of the Ginetta and Lotus competition!
TITLE IN BRITISH GT; FEATURED ON TOP GEAR LIVE!
It wasn’t just the KTM X-BOW BATTLE with more than 70 starters that was a huge success in the 2011 season; the success also continued in the GT4-classes. Following KTM’s European Championship titles in both 2008 and 2009, the UK team of service and motorsport partner ABG Motorsport won the British GT4 championship with Peter Belshaw and Marcus Clutton competing against an extremely strong field of competitors. And they won by a margin of 40 points ahead of the Ginetta and Lotus competition!
To achieve this, the team from ABG worked intensively during the winter to ensure that they were perfectly prepared for the season ahead. This was absolutely clear, especially at the beginning of the season when they enjoyed an absolute dominance. This immediately caused the organizers of the SRO on the program so that all possible sanctions were in place for the car that was by far the fastest in the GT4 field: extra weight, longer pit stops, a ban on homologated tuning parts (!) and, last but not least, even a 15 percent power reduction on the 2.0 liter TFSI engine from Audi.
Because of this, the KTM X-BOW with the start number 45 shared by the Greek Athanasios Ladas and the Briton Michael Mallock was no longer on the start. The crew of the number 44 X-BOW didn’t allow themselves to be stopped by this harassment and captured an amazing victory in the British GT Championship driving the super sports car made in Austria!
Final Standings in the British GT Championship 2011:
1. KTM X-BOW 205.5 points
2. Ginetta G50 164.0 points
3. Lotus Evora 164.0 points
Then at the end of the year there was another special highlight that was jointly organized by the British service partners ABG Motorsport and Hangar 111. “Top Gear”, the world’s most viewed TV cult motor magazine broadcast by the BBC and equally successful in the print media, issued an invitation to take part in the famous “Top Gear Live” event in both Birmingham and London. Over 80,000 enthusiastic fans not only enjoyed the classic trade fair atmosphere over the six-day event but also a fantastic live show with the most exciting racing and sports cars in history. And in the midst of this was the KTM X-BOW, which of course created much enthusiasm in sports car-crazy England.
KTM is also set to continue to create a stir in England in 2012. ABG intends to continue its involvement in motor racing in the British GT4 Championship and cooperation between AGB and Hangar 111 will provide an even better service for private customers. In addition there is also a possibility for those interested to take part in a “Drive Orange” event with the KTM X-BOW in the spring of 2012, where it will be possible to experience the car’s breathtaking performance in the real sense of the world!
