An italian website, sicurauto.it, dedicated to road safety announced the winners for the SafeBuy award and Infiniti FX 2010 won the award for the large SUV category. Check out the winners in other category after the jump.
ROME, Italy (December 14th, 2010) – SicurAUTO.it, website founded in 2000 and mainly dedicated to road safety, announced the winners of the first "SicurAUTO SafeBuy".
In this award project, SicurAUTO.it has been supported by DEKRA, European leader for services in the automotive area and which operates in Italy through a network of 700 car review centres. Infiniti FX has established itself as the safest car among large SUV. Overall, 6 vehicles deserved the award in their respective segments of the market:
Large SUV - Infiniti FX
Premium Sedan - BMW 5 series
Compact - Alfa Romeo Giulietta
Minicars - Toyota IQ
Medium - Honda Accord
Small SUV - Volvo XC60
Small car - Toyota Verso
For this very first edition of "SicurAUTO SafeBuy", nominees were chosen from among those which have earned the 5-star according to the new EuroNCAP evaluation criteria, over the period 2009-2010 and by last Oct. 15.
Only basic version of the considered vehicles have been taken into account and scores have been assigned depending on the presence of: SBR front and rear passenger side airbags, airbags for front and rear, Bluetooth devices, voice commands, speed limitation devices, advanced systems, and so on.
In fact, the aim of "SicurAUTO SafeBuy" award is to stimulate car manufacturers operating in the Italian market in order to get richer safety equipments from the entry level versions of their models. Aim of the award is not, however, replacing the major evaluation EuroNCAP which remains a main reference also in SicurAUTO.it’s safety evaluation.
