Holden EFIJY Concept

Holden’s wild hot rod concept - EFIJY - will headline an impressive display of historic vehicles at the New South Wales ‘All-Holden Display’ from  31 July to 1 August. To be held at the Hawkesbury Showground in Clarendon, the event is expected to attract more than 10,000 people across the two days, as it showcases more than 700 Holden vehicles including EFIJY, the radical custom coupe.

First launched at the Sydney Motor Show in October 2005, EFIJY boasts V8 Supercar power under the bonnet, a Chevrolet Corvette underbody and state-of-the-art automotive technology.

The ‘Soprano Purple’ paintwork highlights its curvaceous 5.2-metre body, reinterpreting the classic design cues of the iconic 1953 FJ Holden.

The technology matches the larger-than-life design cues with a 480-kilowatt, supercharged six-litre V8 engine, air-adjustable shock absorbers, touch control LCD screen and fan-cooled LED headlamps.

Holden’s New South Wales Zone Manager, Blair Blashki, said the company was delighted to support the All Holden event with one of Australia’s most iconic concept vehicles.

“EFIJY is the perfect concept vehicle for an enthusiast event like this one as it celebrates Holden’s proud Australian heritage while showcasing the incredible talents of our design team,” Mr Blashki said.

“We are pleased to be a part of such a wonderful event that brings together so many people from around the state to enjoy all things Holden.

“EFIJY is sure to evoke different memories for everyone who sees it. People might focus on its links to the original FJ, the glorious custom coupes of the 1930s or the great design flair of the 1950s,” he said.

The EFIJY concept car has gathered a growing legion of fans wherever it has been displayed, receiving  world- wide recognition including the prestigious title of 2007 North American Concept Car of the Year by South East Automotive Media Organization (SEAMO).

It was also described as ‘probably the most beautiful concept car ever’ when it was named Hot Rod of the Year by the influential Hot Rod magazine in the United States.

This year’s All Holden event will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the company’s FB model.  Launched in 1960, Holden built more than 174,000 FB sedans and wagons with their distinctive wraparound windscreen, sloping rear glass, big finned tail light clusters and finned rear guards.
