Sporty all-rounder. The Abt AS6 Avant
The Kempten-based Bavarian company Abt Sportsline is one of the world-wide leading tuners for Audi-models. This does not come as a surprise, as successes, experience and technologies from motor sports go directly into the development of new products for road vehicles. Another reason for its excellent reputation and standing is Abt Sportsline’s continuous further developments. A perfect example for the company’s innovative power is the new sporty estate car; the AS6 Avant with 270 HP developed from the basis of the Audi A6 Avant 3.0 TDI which now communicates pure motor sport feeling, no matter whether used as a private or business car.
The Abt engineers have developed a power upgrade by modifying the motor management for the 3.0 litre quattro model with and without diesel particulate filter (DPF). The AS6 Avant now performs powerful 270 HP and a maximum torque of 550 Nm. Compared with the standard model this is a power enhancement of 45 HP and 100 Nm. The development of the Abt power upgrade for the AS6 Avant was extremely complex as the requirements for the offered chip tuning are an obvious power boost but at the same time unobjectionable operation and no long-term damage on the gear unit or engine for example. In addition, the DPF was a challenge for the Abt engineers as well, as no compromises could be made regarding its operation. The result of intense research is an extremely powerful sporty estate car which will give especially frequent drivers great pleasure.
The optical features also identify the Abt AS6 Avant as true sports all-rounder. The shapely Abt front grill and newly designed front spoiler give it a marked face. Broad side skirts give the Abt AS6 Avant a dominant and powerful roadability. The rear wing granting increased downforce on the rear axis reminds you of developments from motor sport. The rear skirt inset with integrated 4-pipe rear muffler bearing the Abt-logo also makes the Abt AS6 Avant an acoustic head-turner.
Beside the increased power and sporty look, the Abt AS6 Avant also enjoys improved driving dynamics. The special suspension set-up lowers the bodywork by approximately 40 millimetres and improves the vehicle’s handling. Due to tighter spring characteristics the sport suspension enables a sportier manner of driving. As an alternative solution Abt Sportsline also offers a height-adjustable sport suspension kit for the Abt AS6 Avant. Hence, the suspension set-up can be adjusted individually from extremely sporty to comfortable.
Following Abt Sportsline’s sporty overall concept, the AS6 Avant is equipped with the new Abt light alloy wheels AR. The one-piece 9x20 inch wheels are forked towards the rim flange and fitted on tyres size 265/30 of technology partner Continental. Abt also offers the classical elegant SP wheel in five-spoke design in the dimension 18 to 20 inch for the AS6 Avant.
The new Abt AS6 Avant with its powerful 270 HP, the dynamic suspension and outstanding optics is a true sporty all-rounder, no matter whether it is used as private or company car.
