2009 Mitsubishi Galant Ralliart

The sports-oriented version of Mitsubishi's family sedan is touted as an Eclipse in a more practical body by none other than Mitsubishi.

The power comes from the same 3.8 liter V6 as you'd find in the company's Eclipse GT sports car, Mitsubishi is proud to point out. The engine makes 258 horsepower at 5,750 rpm and 258 lb-ft of torque at 4,500 rpm thanks to Mitsubishi's MIVEC variable valve timing system.

The sports-oriented version of Mitsubishi's family sedan is touted as an Eclipse in a more practical body by none other than Mitsubishi.

Indeed, power comes from the same 3.8 liter V6 as you'd find in the company's Eclipse GT sports car, Mitsubishi is proud to point out. The engine makes 258 horsepower at 5,750 rpm and 258 lb-ft of torque at 4,500 rpm thanks to Mitsubishi's MIVEC variable valve timing system.

The sole transmission is a five-speed automatic with adaptive shift control and a manual shift mode driving the front wheels. Fuel economy, as estimated by the EPA, is 16 mpg in the city cycle, and 25 mpg on the highway.

The Ralliart can be had in just three colors: red, black or silver. Standard comfort features include a sunroof, automatic climate control, power windows, locks and mirrors, speed-sensitive power steering, cruise control, 360 Watt Rockford Acoustic Design 6-disc MP3-compatible premium audio system with eight speakers, Sirius satellite radio with a six-month prepaid subscription, color LCD audio/trip/outside temperature display, trip computer, white-face sport meters with bright orange illumination, eight-way power-adjustable driver's seat with adjustable lumbar support, sport-wrapped leather steering wheel with audio controls, leather seating surfaces, baseball-stitched leather shift knob, aluminum pedals and heated front seats. An electro-chromatic rearview mirror has an integrated Homelink remote.

On the outside, buyers get 10-spoke, 18-inch alloy wheels, integrated and color-keyed rear spoiler, fog lights, color-keyed side air dam, two-tone rear bumpers, traction control, sport-tuned suspension and a front strut tower bar.

As far as safety features, anti-lock brakes with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), a tire pressure-monitoring system, LATCH system for child safety seats, advanced dual-stage front SRS airbags and front and rear curtain airbags are included.

The big-ticket option is a navigation system, while everything else includes little things such as floor mats, cabin air filter, cargo mats and nets, an iPod adapter, smoker's kit and sunroof wind deflector.
