From the looks of the exhaust, I'd say a dirt bike engine.
Its a 2 stroke that's for sure its probibly just a 50 cc scooter engine.
a dirtbike engine would kill you, its gotta be something small
i like the look of that...

I think that would get killer gas mileage and be an interesting way to commote.
