The pothole won.

QUOTE
Man learns Ferrari's no match for SUV

Egham, England, Jun. 16 (UPI) -- For all of its engineering, speed and luxury, a brand new $320,000 Ferrari proved no match for a pothole in Egham, England, The Sun reported Wednesday.

The dream of a lifetime turned into a nightmare for municipal employee Simon Nimmo when he wrote off his brand new 575 F1 "super car" just four minutes after picking it up from the dealership.

Capable of reaching 212 mph, the low-slung car was not capable of zipping across a giant pothole.

Being so close to the ground, Nimmo couldn't see it in time to swerve. One of the car's $3,500 wheels shattered and the entire front suspension assembly cracked.

In all, the car cost him $80,000 per minute that he drove it and he had to settle for a ride home in a tow truck.

Damn potholes. I hit a massive fucker in Salinas the other day...scared the hell out of me. Sounded like it was gonna fuck up my suspension, or at least bend a wheel. Just scuffed up a tire...but shit, they can be nasty.

I was driving my friends 1.8T Passat, and we hit a hole going, get this 5 mph, and i cracked the plastic underbody for the nose of the car. sucks... but we are getting the city to pay for it because it was a pothole that should've been fixed. head.gif

heh, they were shaving the road near me which leaves a big ass 2inch rough edge in the road. I didnt see the "Bump" sign and hit it at 50mph. The cover over my gauge cluster broke and flew off the dash. The impact was so hard I'm surprised I didnt fuck up my rims and suspension. Did have to jerry rig my console cover thing back on though....

Here in florida, we have the worst potholes. A friggin sinkhole opened up in front of our yard, and it was about 12 feet deep, and 6 feet wide. It was dead center in the middle of the road too. it also sucks since it rains so damn much in florida, the rain fills in the pothole, and while you re driving, you think you are only going through a puddle. Well my freind Doug was in his ricemobile ( 200sx) and the car is/was low as shit. Well he hit a pothole in the rain, and it was about 6 inches deep. It fucked the whole front of his car up.

So yeah, potholes suck ass

The amount of tax English people pay you'd think they'd sort out the roads, especially in the capital! In most other countries in Europe where there is no road tax, the roads are of a much higher standard, even if you are going through desert areas.

I would assume that the taxes collected from the motorists goes into some sort of general revenue fund and gets syphoned off to other areas of government spending that have nothing to do with improving the condition of the roads.

Yes, you assume right.

The term originated from "Nigger rig" into "jerry rig". And now with todays pop culture its refered to as "Git er done".
