Im not really a photographer or anything, I just use the camera to document my cars.
I doubt any of you guys have given much thought into camera's in this price range, but any recomendations would be very helpful

OMG I'M GONNA SUGGEST SOMETHING THAT ISN'T A CANON OMG

Fuji Finepix S5100. Great camera smile.gif
Viper007Bond
OMG CLARKMA SUCKS OMG

Canon PowerShot A__

Don't bother with the mini ones. You pay for the smaller size with a lack of features and zoom.

I am SICK and fucking TIRED of all this Canon loving on this site.

I have a Canon. I LIKE it. I had an Olympus before. I LIKED that. I have a Minolta. I LIKE that too.

CANON IS NOT THE ONLY GAME IN TOWN YOU FUCKTARDS JESUS CHRIST.

Would it help if i told you i like Nikons?
ghetto waggon
It's really not that big of an issue, after all...it is just a camera.

From a non biased point of view, Nikon kicks major ass in terms of feel and functionality. The color is about as true as it gets. On the flip side, the canon's colors are by far richer and have added white which is much more appealing to the eye. For me, the color was the biggest issue. Yes, there is always post process editing at your fingertips, but it's night and day to me in viewing images on say pbase.com. MOST people have chosen nikon, so I am actually pretty impressed to see such a biased site smile.gif

You can't deny it, nikon and canon drive the industry. Sony, fuji, minolta, pentax, olympus, kodak are all followers if you will (no offense).

I personally loved my minolta dimage xt. It was the size of a pack of cards and made respectable 8x10 enlargements at the highest resolution setting.

Am I gonna get yelled at for saying Canon? :scared:

I have an A75, and that's probably in your price range. I love my cam...absolutely love it. Here's a sample pic -

I'm pretty sure it was on auto at the time. I'm no expert photog, so I have a lot to learn about settings with light conditions and stuff...I was in a rolling traffic jam, and the third lane was moving faster than me, so I had very little time..just whipped it out and I got lucky with a decent picture. But I still love my A75.

Of course, if you can afford it, go A80 (4.0MP vs. 3.2MP).

Aw shit, that's amazing. I see a buncha Ferrari's in Toronto but never a Porsche. Or atleast a modern one. My auto teacher had a '70s black 911 and I've seen one of those brand new Carrera S' around where I live which is a pretty rural area.

And I recently bought a 3.1MP Kodak CX7330 and I love it. Mainly because it's my very first digital camera and I got it for 140 CAD from BestBuy.

I just bought a Casio exilim Z40 a couple of weeks ago... I'm not a professional or anything... I was wanted something slim that I could carry around everywhere I go... i found the a75 quite big

I have a Canon A70. It was a HUGE upgrade from the HP 215. Batteries last A LOT longer, MUCH more feature rich, and of course better images.
Dylan
Yay, go A70. It still eats batteries though.

By the way, no fast reply here? Get on it Clark! keke

I just noticed it, Dylan; was about to fix it.

Yea I was going to say to go with the canon powershot A__ I have the A75 and love it. I got it for xmas/bday last year and use it all the time. And batteries last pretty long, just don't forget to shut the camera off when you finish uploading the pictures like I always do. That's when you can say bye bye to the batteries.

Also a good option with any camera you get, buy like 8 rechargables. I got them and it's a lot better than having to shell out money for new batteries every couple of weeks. I use my camera daily so that's why I was going through batteries so fast. Now I just have 4 in the camera while the other charge and then just switch them when I need new ones.

I just bought a Canon A85 for $250.

I was seriously considering the Finepix S5100 but in the end, the price difference made up my mind for me. Wish me luck with it smile.gif
