Just wanted to see what you guys thought about all this.

i voted for the third option...sorta.

I think the eruption is pretty much over. I do expect, however, some lava to ooze out and potentially cause a small lahar.

It's going to be the geological equivelent of a mild fart.

laugh.gif It already errupted 3 hours before this post started (erruption was at 12:03 PST). tongue_orig.gif

It went up 2,000 feet and was just steam with some ash.

The quakes have significantly slowed down, so they're pretty much figuring that was it. These kind of erruptions happened a ton between 1981? through 1986 which was when the last erruption occured.

And just FYI - I live 50 miles from St. Helens. I can see it on a clear day. smile.gif

where is the "Mt. Saint Helens is going to blow up so catastrophically, it caused a veritable nuclear winter, forcing the world into hiding for the next 1000 years. During the time, man will develop the uncanny ability to tunnel with a newly evolved third arm."?
Viper007Bond
It did blow up catastrophically in 1980 and all that happened is we got a few inches (I think - wasn't born yet) of ash here. Well, everywhere actually. Ash landed in many places around the globe.

That fits under "Mt. St. Helens is going to have a larger eruption than in 1980"

i live like 70 miles away, 20 miles way from viper. we watched this at our school during lunch. kinda boring, they say it might errupt again haha can't wait
Viper007Bond
Where are you Jadan?

And yeah, people have been evacutated back to 10 miles. They're saying there's a 50% of something significant happening within 36 hours as magma is moving towards the surface.

Press conference in 30.

Whom ever voted for the first option, a larger erruption than in 1980, should realize that it is not possible.

i doubt it will be any bigger than in 1980, most likely it'll be the geological "fart" as dakian says
