In the line-up for 2005: The new 911 GT3 Cup.

Three months after the public presentation of the new 911 Carrera (997), we are now pleased to unveil the first racing version of this sports car. The 911 GT3 Cup 2005 is intended as a near-series vehicle for racing by customers and will initially compete exclusively in the Porsche Michelin Supercup in 2005.

The GT3 Cup 2005 features a sequential transmission with interruption of tractive power which enables upshifting at full throttle. The chassis has been revised for even greater precision and further enhanced driving dynamics. And for the first time, Porsche is deploying the revolutionary Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) in motor racing.

Yes please Porsche, great pics, great find! Twin centre exhast pipes look like the 996 GT3 race cars in the supercup! Nice touch!

Whoa, that front airdam's a bit busy but...oddly appealing. I really like the way the headlights are accentuated on this car.
And wow...power's up to 400, out of the same 'ol 3.6. Amazing!

I like it. The front dam is a bit different, but I like it none the less. I really like these headlights a lot more over the previous model, and I'm glad to see them slowly working them into the rest of the line..
høgh
That is nice! Can't wait to see the GT3 RS though!

Yeah, that did hurt. No other member gets this? I don't understand, honestly...I'm just trying to get on with everybody. Can we get back to talking about the car? I'm looking forward to the next Supercup Race Series with 997 GT3's!

Meh, some people are just more emotionally unstable and aren't very self confident. Back to the car, i think that's one hell of a machine. I'm still not fond of the new headlights. It just doesn't do it.

Or annoyed by the amount of stupid being spewed by one person.

Wow, it looks awesome. They should take something from the front and put it on the regular GT3.

Oh that's true...now lets see how many of yours matter....I'm thinking none at all. I don't think he's that bad, and obviously you're not any better. You're not always bright yourself all the time...

Notice how not a single one of your posts mentions the car, it's just ripping on others....maybe you have some issues to work out there...

Hey, asshat, look at what I am, a Moderator, I'm supposed to keep this forum neat and tidy and teach n00b's the ropes of what not to do, even if that does mean being a bloodthursty ninja.

My opinion of the car goes without saying, its a Porsche, so its got a real tranny, and its got some real speed.

it would suit you well to avoid paying any attention whatsoever to anything at all WRSX says. None of it is relevant or sensical.

Dont' take it personally.
Mr b00st
and as for the engine... why isn't the 3.8 used? Does it have a lower redline because of the longer stroke?

The 3.8 is a wet-sump engine, based around the line of engines that started with the 2.5 liter boxster from '97. It's fully watercooled.

The 3.6 liter engine has its roots in the original '65 2.0 liter version and, more recently/directly, in the 3.2 liter 911 GT1 engine that debuted in '96. It's a true dry-sump engine, with a stronger block, and it isn't fully watercooled...only the heads are watercooled.

Not to be confused with the 3.6 liter Carrera engine that debuted in '02 and is still in the 997 Carrera today...that, too, is a wet-sump Boxster-based engine.

GT3 3.6: 100 mm bore x 76.4 mm stroke
Carrera 3.6: 96 mm bore x 82.8 mm stroke

Ok, leave it out. I'm a n00b so that does give you the right to correct me. (Especially if I don't shut up... canadian.gif) Fair enough, but taking the piss out of me is just abusing your power. Theres been a lot of negative comments as well but at the same time your free to speak your mind, thanks for sticking up for me Bosxter all the same but it's ok, I'll live. I won't take it too personally in future. Ok?
mogulmonster
drool I love the way the headlights and the airdam look. Its even got an appealing side profile, which I'm not usually fond if in Porsche's. 400hp from a 3.6 is incredible! Engineering at its best.

Now, would you say the looks like a road car interior or a race car interior? thumbs_up.gif

I can see that your a Mod, you don't think I knew that before I posted? I just think that it's kind of sad that most of your posts that I seem to read are just you ripping on new people. You think you'd be helping them out, but instead you just put them down. I'd just think that you'd have a better way to spend your time, rather than ripping on new people...

Like, ripping on regular members tongue_orig.gif

Eh, come on now. WRSX is a moderator, it's his job. And anyway, most people enjoy taking the piss out of others!
(Why am I standing up for the person who was just taking the piss out of me?)
Well theres no hard feelings WRSX so Boxter theres no point arguing any more ok?
porschedream
I know this is totally irrelevant to the subject but i noticed that canadian.gif = canadian, well i think you should have a guy with a straw hat and a piece of wheat in his mouth and make it american. laugh.gif

Back to the car, i still think it rocks on. I'd love to see in in a colour other than white though.
