The upgraded engine, which is being previewed in Pebble Beach this weekend, pumps the numbers up to 425 hp - 25 more than the new, sixth-generation Corvette, incidentally - and 420 lb-ft. "When we first went down the 6.1-liter path," admits Knott, "our targets were a lot lower." Not that he's complaining. The 6.1-liter version of the HEMI will help Chrysler dramatically differentiate the new 300C SRT-8 from the 5.7-liter version of the car.
wow.

Not a fan of Chrysler...but that thing is amazing.
you should note tho, that theres a $25K version of this car with a smaller engine and plastic dash etc... however, the fully loaded Hemi version has an E type suspension, leather and wood trims and a nice powerful engine

I think it's funny that it evolved from this:

I never would've noticed the above car, but the new 300M is very noticeable.

With 0-6 rumored at 5 secs, it's definetly an awesome car.

0-6 in 5 seconds, damn thats slow. 0-60 in 5 seconds, now that would be impressive! lol
Its got the power, but i think its still damn ugly!

the normal 300C doesn't do 0-60 in 5.3 seconds.
Even car and driver admits they got duped. In their 3-way detroit V8 comparison (Crown Vic(!), Bonneville GXP, and 300C- if i need to tell you the Hemi dominated, you need to leave) they qouted a 0-60 of 5.9. Which is still quick of course, but they said that the testing was in the same location and basically the same conditions... the 300C Hemi they tested was a preproduction version.

The more aggressive front end of the 300C SRT-8 is exactly what was missing from the orinal 300C.

it's a little too much like brosnan putting on brass knuckles.
they should have ditched the little spoiler and splitter, and done the following stylistically:
those 20" alloys are perfect. Keep them.
Offer the SRT-8 in any color you want, as long as it's black.
Smoke the rear tail lenses.
lightly smoke the front tail lights, and fit HID design.

They're coming out with a coupe and convertable versions of the 300C. I think the coupe looks the best, just because I like the roofline a lot better. I find it suits the car better.
So I'd rather get a coupe version of the SRT-8 if they come out with it. I just don't care for the styling of the 4 door...

A 300C Coupe would look great. I hope they don't make a convertible though.

In August's Car and Driver there were somc preety good chops of a 300C Coupe and Convertible . I really hope they put a manual transmission on it an maybe the Mercedes 4 liter commonrail diesel on it . That way it will be surely a success in Europe too .
