It was brilliant for smart to feature this pic on their Canadian website. We Canucks love our beer .... and this pic really illustrates how much cargo you can get into one of these microcars. cool.gif

Here's the FAQ page from smart Canada's website :

What will be the warranty coverage for the smart?

The smart fortwo comes with:

(1) a basic warranty for 48 months/80,000 km,
(2) an emissions warranty for 24 months/40,000 km (some parts include a 96 month/130,000 km warranty), and
(3) a corrosion warranty with 48 month/80,000 km coverage for surface corrosion and 60 month/unlimited km coverage for perforation.

Can I export a Canadian smart fortwo to the United States?

No, sorry, but our smart fortwo is currently certified for the Canadian market only. It is not homologated for the U.S. market and will therefore not comply for export.

QUOTE
What is the top speed of the smart fortwo?

It's so much fun, but the smart coupé and cabriolet engine will be electronically limited to a top speed of 135 km/h.
( I wonder what it would do with the limiter removed? )

Would it be possable to buy a smart in canada and "import" it to the US? Or would it be a huge pain in the ass?

Not at all, according to the same FAQ.
And according to the Canadian Driver article, US may get it in MY2006.

hmm, thats not to long of a wait. I wonder how much they will cost. And if they will even be popular.

I think a lot of businesses will buy them / lease them for their sales reps ....

They are very unique looking and are highly noticeable. People will be staring at these cars anyways.
So if you own a business, you may as well stick an ad onto your car.

Here is a gallery featuring a few examples. Advertising which normally appears out-of-place on regular cars, seems to look natural on the smart fortwo.

I like the smart, I really do. But the problem is that here in America evreybody drives big cars, trucks and suv's. I could see somebody in a smart easily being killed by somebody in an SUV rear-ended them. It's unfortunate everybody LOVES big cars here. Personally I don't however.

Here is a good comment from the smart website... people ride motorcycles on the same streets with SUVs, which do you think is safer, being in a smart or on a motorcycle?

A lot of people die on motorcycles too, but I guess a Smart is indeed safer. But a motorcycle is a much smaller target than the smart so SUV's have more of a chance of missing em lol
