Have you ever seen the dealer installation of a cellular phone for the 1990 Lincoln Mark VII? Here's the Delux Bag Phone Model. A friend or mine also let me remove the dealer installed cellular phone from her 1994 Ford AeroStar. That too is nice but I don't have pictures yet.

Whoa! Where'd the phone come from? It looked tucked away, were people supposed to know about it?

It was in a bag that you carried (pictured on the passenger's seat) but plugged into a module in the car as you drove. It had a power supply/amplifier in the trunk for true hands free operation (see the microphone next to the mirror) as you listened to a preset FM channel.

People knew about it because when you left your vehicle, the phone traveled with you. It has a battery in the bottom of the bag.

hehehehe THAT'S RIGHT!

I guess I'll have to post more pictures but the phone was mobile AND portible.

The pictures show it in it's opened bag and NOT connected to the car at this time.

For use in the car, you either used it as a bag phone, running off of the bag's battery (which was bigger than the phone at that time), or connected it to the car via quick connects run from the center lower console to the power supply/amplifier in the trunk.

Maybe.
If you find a restored 1990 Lincoln Mark VII with the dealer option/dealer installed car phone and window antennae ... yes.

Close.
The power supply is under the carpet in the truck. See above or http://www.lscclub.org/cars/oldschool1/ima...dschool1030.jpg

My phone is circa 1990 or maybe 3-5 years ~after~ your Father's phone.
