


ASC, Chevy SSR. ASC publicly unveiled a new specially modified Chevrolet SSR concept vehicle last weekend during the Concours d'Elegance at the Cranbrook vintage car show in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Called the SSR Blackbird 425 after the famed, carbon-fiber SR-71 "Blackbird" Air Force spy plane, this special SSR features a a Magnusson supercharger boosting output of the stock 5.3-liter engine to 425-hp, a lowered ride height through shortened sport springs; specially-tuned Bilstein performance shocks; a dual-exhaust system; brushed-metal, squared-off exhaust tips; high-performance Brembo brakes and 20" front/22" rear Corvette Z06-styled wheels from Davin. Along with the performance modifications, the SSR Blackbird 425 has a carbon-fiber hood scoop; carbon-fiber splash guards; carbon-fiber rear-fascia trim; body-color lower rocker panels; a functional cold-air intake in the hood; a composite rear spoiler; unique, carbon-fiber exterior badging; carbon-fiber accents in the instrument-panel gauge cluster; carbon-fiber accents in the center-console gauge cluster; titanium-colored leather seat trim; titanium-colored door-trim inserts; unique, carbon-fiber interior badging and XM satellite radio integration. According to ASC, the Blackbird 425 was designed with possible production in mind, and they estimate that it could be made available for a sticker price of under $56,000.
