Oh oh I can! It was a sticky starter!
The starter actually froze and made a short in the wiring. The wires wound up getting SO hot that they actually set the electrical tape that was wrapped around them on fire. Now I would like to add at this point that when a batter is grounded in such a way its dispensing massive amounts of energy and is actually giving off hydrogen gas. So we have a fire in the engine bay, the battery is giving off a combustable gas, we are parked next to a fuel pump, and they're selling fireworks 10 feet away from us. Quick thinking a friend of ours reaches foreward and yanks the battery cables off despite getting second degree burns on his hand doing so and our dad dispenses of the fire with his can of Diet Dr. Pepper he was drinking at the time.

Um...maybe it is because they put a carbonated beverage in a closed plastic container into a fire...maybe that is why it caught fire...

Have any of you guys tried the Dr.Pepper "Red Fusion" drink? Man... I gotta keep away from that stuff, it's like liquid crack. I don't like the original Dr.Pepper much, but this stuff is different.
