simple Swiftech setup with a Dtek heatercore.. i got sick of hearing all my fans going at once... so now it's just a single 120mm top fan and my power supply fan.

Thats a pretty clever setup you've got there Diesel

Hol-y-effing-crap. That is awesome! Specs? Money it took to build? How the hell can I do do it?@Q$!

I've seen sewer pipe with a smaller diameter than that tubing. eek.gif What kind of flow rate does your pump do?
Diesel
the pump (swiftech) is an MCP600 and flows about 185gallons/hr, the blocks (swiftech) are the MCW5000 for cpu, and MCW50 for the graphics card. the radiator is from dtekcustoms.com. tubing is 1/2".

total spent is about $200

Those large diameter hoses and fittings aren't just for high flow rates.
Larger diameter hoses will have the exit pressure as a small diameter hose but since there is more surface area, the surface pressure per inch is a lot less. This makes the hose less susceptiable to breaking and fitttings from coming off because the system is under a lot less stress.

That cooling could be made with hoses 1/4 that size but would be more likely to break and, inside a computer, that would be very very bad.

If my understanding of simple hydraulic principles is wrong, please correct me. smile.gif

How does the heat absorbed into the cooling system get dissapated ?

Would there be any benifits of watercooling a "normal" computer?

it will add to the bling factor ...if you use neons tongue_orig.gif

So true. Naw, but it probably will help out a bit. Probably not worth it, though. I might look into it, because I tend to overclock my computer and the fans are really loud.

^^ the reason i'm afraid to do this to mine tongue_orig.gif

the fan on top blows hot air up through a radiator and out of my case.

nice!

Ah ... cool. cool.gif

Very nice setup, what graphics board is that?
Enigma_Man
For my next computer, I'm thinking about milling a giant passive radiator for the side of my case. Basically just a really large heat sink, but drill holes for water cooling to pass through it.

That way, basically the only sound from the computer would be the low hum of the water pump (and a slow moving case fan or two).

Looks very cool.

But you need to dust.. wink.gif
