Full Version: Companies need to keep things simple

I was just thinking about how some time back there was a report on a Honda S1000, smaller version of the S2000. When companies start to do that, I think they begin to lose focus. Honestly, I think they should just stick with the S2000 instead of concentrating on two designs versus just one design that could be much more refined.

Then, I thought about my web browser, Opera. I look at the top and it has an e-mail menu and a chat menu. Honestly, I don't use those and most people use a seperate program for e-mail other than AOL users.

There are fax machines/copiers/scanners/printers all in one. Those have 4 products crammed into one and if something happens to it, you lose all 4, not just one. I'd much rather have a company make one good product versus 4 sub-quality products.

Those are three examples off the top of my head, but I'm sure there are more that I skipped.

I agree, if only due to i-Drive and flame surfacing. Complicated nonsense that brought BMW down from its pedestal. There's examples to be found everywhere, but that's what pops into my head.

Yes! That's a great example, IMO, if BMW just puts a simple clutch and a real transmission, that'll be awesome!
