I got a Nikon coolpix 2100 digicam for my 16th birthday yesterday and when I try to transfer pics to my pc it says there is no cf card in the slot. I checked about 20 times and its in there and it's in correctly. Now wtf is wrong?

There a few potential problems (none of which will be comforting to you)
1) You may not have formatted the CF card before you put photos on it so the camera could recognize the files on it. You'll have to format it now, which means all yor pictures will be gone.
2) The CF card may just be busted, which means a new CF card and your pictures are gone.
3) Your camera's CF card slot may be busted which means a new camera...

i believe those three potential problems have been ruled out
1) i have formatted the cf card. i didnt do that before but that has been taken care of
2) the camera recognizes that a cf card is in the slot. i am able to take a picture and remove the card, put the card back in, turn the camera back on, and view the pictures on the camera screen.
3) the camera recognizes if there is a card or not. the card also is able to save the pictures.
the only thing that is stopping me from uploading pictures is when i try to launch the transfer window, i get a warning that says there is no cf card on my computer.

I, personally, have no problem connecting my camera to my computer while I run Norton Anti-Virus Corporate Edition...
I assume you're connecting your camera to your computer with USB because you say you're putting your card in your camera...
I am not very familiar with how ME would deal with a camera. Did you have to install drivers for your camera? When you plug it in, does it become a "removable disk" in your "my computer" screen or do you access it in some other way?

Step 1: Reformat hard drive and install
ANYTHING BUT ME!!! Hell, Windows 3.1 is better than ME.
The program is a complete disaster. I am not at all surprised you are having problems connecting your digital camera.
If possible try your camera on another computer (not running ME that is...) and see how that goes.

Yeah; ME is just 98 stretched to the point where it shouldn't work but just barely does. I suggest 2000 Pro, personally, although XP Pro has its merits as well.

I called tech support and got it working
As soon as I find a site to host the pics from I'll put them on.

My truck is black and shiny, at least it is in the pictures. It's black and crusty now because it hasn't been washed in 2 weeks.

XP Pro is not so much the best advice for a home user. XP Home is almost exactly the same (the advanced user manager is gone, as well as some of the extraneous services like FTP server) and costs $100 less. The main difference is the licensing.

I didn't have a single clue what the problem was. The guy had me move all kinds of files around and removing stuff left and right. All I know was it was a problem with the pc.
I wanna call those tech support guys again just to hear them talk(Canadian accent). I bet they never heard anyone say y'all before except in the movies. They were saying youz guys. LOL.
