I could never own a R35 GTR because the front is so damn ugly, but this thing anyday. Black on black.

Does that spoiler retract at the rear? or is just for the track car?

Wow, this looks pretty amazing. The front is a bit busy for my taste, but I love the side... the profile and all those cool little aerodynamic details. The spoiler looks a bit... weak, as retractable spoilers often do.
Also, did I miss something? I thought they said they weren't going to make this?

An endurance sports car race where any fires, mechanical failures, and what not will reveal themselves in the race and can be adjusted/repaired/redesigned before the car actually hits customers hands. As opposed to having a customer car catch on fire after it goes on sale.

Razor, spoiling the F1 World Championship in IRC was super douchey, don't even try to be a smartass about it. ANYWAY.
The front end styling of this car isn't as nice as I was hoping it would be from all those camo'd pictures and from the roadster concept, but it's great from pretty much every angle and technologically ultra exciting, at least on paper. Sucks that it's a limited model though...

Or a replacement fuel ventilation valve and/or a driver who wasn't idiotic enough to top off his tank (generally what was responsible for those fires).

Small question mark over the steering aside, the LFA handles brilliantly...
What’s more impressive though, is that the LFA has a character of its own, rather follow a preset supercar template. That it is more solidly constructed than anything Italian, and less flamboyant, is perhaps to be expected from a Lexus. What’s surprising though is how honed and sharp it feels to drive. While it has GT qualities it’s no soft-edged GT. Instead it is a serious and credible supercar.
Toyota can't build what now?

I love the way it looks, it sounds like it's solid-performer too. But I wasn't expecting a Lexus Veyron. It's waay to expensive (I hear Lexus is losing money on each one built), and limited production. This should've been a regular production model in the $100-150k range, or fuck it something in the $80k range to go head-to-head with the GT-R. Hopefully some of this car's sporting DNA will find its way into the SC replacement.

I think Lexus needs a halo car right now to build credibility in its F brand. Even though the IS-F was touted by many motoring journalists as a worthy sport sedan that could go toe to toe with the M3 and C63 it never really gained widespread acceptance from the punters.
Also I'm sure the LF-A's technology will trickle down into an SC replacement...hopefully a sharp coupe, and not another fluffy cabriolet.

I've heard the IS-F sells just as well as an M3 sedan. Where the M3 gets far more sales is the coupe and convertible variants. I remember InsideLine suggested that Lexus do an IS-F convertible if they were looking for greater commercial success with the F-performance line.
Regarding the next SC, I can't see it being a sharp coupe. Maybe an enjoyable GT like the SL, but no more than that (not that that's a bad thing mind you, the SL is an excellent driver's car for those that appreciate the open road more than the track). I just hope it looks even a quarter as dramatic. The current SC, which I do like, is looking its age, and the IS convertible is just poorly proportioned.

“The LFA is a thoroughbred supercar, a machine engineered to achieve a single goal – to deliver a supreme driving experience,” said Chief Engineer Haruhiko Tanahashi.
Then you read that it has a 6-speed sequential gearbox. I don't know a lot about cars, but the chevy malibu's automatic transmission has six speeds. It switches gears sequentially. It doesn't deliver a supreme driving experience. Just sayin'.

A six speed sequential gear box is very diifferent than a standard slushbox automatic, like the one in a malibu. But by your methodology, a malibu delivers a 'supreme driving experience' to that of, lets say, a 250 gto?

It looks pretty impressive, I will definitely give Lexus credit for this one. $375k probably destroys its chances of making major inroads against its competition, and a limited edition run probably kills off its chances of making an impact in the mind of the public, but it's a legitimate supercar with a flavor all its own. I like how it is instantly a Lexus and yet instantly credible as a true performance machine at the same time.
