That is one badass mofo. The only performance upgrade is that it's 10kg lighter because of all the CF...but who the fuck cares? It's not like it was lacking in performance. They're making 35 of them, and they should be around 61k Euros.

You realize a car is more than its paint job?

I feel like I've seen this done aftermarket a lot, but for some reason this looks far more complete. Also, I like the name ("Scura")... is that a whole word in another language or it is a play on 'oscura' (Spanish for dark)?

Well yea, but its not like this car is any different than a regular exige, save for the minor weight trim and, wait for it, the paintjob.
I was just curious.

I agree with bomb3r, they just keep pumping out variations of essentially the same model (Cup 260), which is also just another variant of the same model (Exige S), which is the variant of yet another model (Elise).

what's the point? I'll just take a standard Exige for less money and have a ball and not even give this model a thought. And while the Elise/Exige are cool-looking cars, even the coolest one can't get my blood pumping too hard because there have been sooooo many takes on this car. And then with them only making 35 of them, it becomes truly irrelevant.

A mate of mine hates most things aftermarket. Then he went to germany quite recently, and saw hoe many hundreds and hundreds of Porsche's were driving around. Then he came back here, and said how all of a sudden the RUFs and Gemballas, etc make sense, because they individualise a 'common' car.
What I'm getting at is how this thing might appeal to the guys who don't want the same Elise/Exige variant that everyone else has. This is the same awesome car as (like was mentioned) a regular Exige, but this one will set you apart. Maybe that's the appeal. I would sure as all hell rather rock this than a 'regular' Exige or Elise, even thought those are both awesome cars to start with.

Close, but not quite. Scura is dark in Italian.

It's nice, but I feel like Lotus have really dragged this model out. If it still sells well then fair enough, but it has been a long standing model with lots of variants, which I would have expected them to have replaced it by now.

^ Well the Exige has received the mildest of updates visually, and weren't there other updates a few years back. I think the question right now is, do the Elise-based Lotuses really need to move on to an mk3 model? They seem to be at the top of their game, with no real challengers in sight. Sales don't seem to be an issue either. So my answer is no, currently they don't. What they need to do is get the Evora drop-top out there, and the Esprit. After that, they can worry about an Mk3 Elise/Exige.
