Now, I'm politically neutral cause I can't give a flying fuck about politics in general. I'm democracy's most useless citizen.
But, not to bash the guy or anything... isn't this a bit, I dunno, premature? Has he actually accomplished anything? Has he actually had enough TIME to accomplish anything? From what I gather hasn't he just laid down the groundwork or put some proposals into the motions of approval at the very least for FUTURE potential?

Now Al Gore's win looked legit. Seriously.

This is such a weird decision. A win next year... maybe. In two years, ok. But after less than a year?

yea guys, fuck this. who wants a pussy ass peace prize?? its too bad we didn't land another hardlinin' warmongerin' good ol' fashioned sunuvabitch in the white house this term... he probably would have won the Nobel Bad Motherfucker Prize and the rest of the world would have totally gone back to deeply respecting the US of A, bitches.

So, basically, he won this because he's not Bush?
Shit, that's good enough for me!

wow his ad campaign really worked. Basically because he offers hope to the world in a new way of leadership is why he got it. But too bad he hasn't accomplished shit yet.

Yes and yes. Why don't they just start giving these away at the VMAs?

It took them thirty years to give it to the guys who laid the groundwork for modern computing...but Obama gets one now.

Even SNL says he hasn't done anything. I still don't believe he was awarded this.

I think saying he hasn't done anything is a bit wrong.
Obama's election was celebrated pretty much internationally, and I think the International community is pretty happy with him so far.
As for what he's doing at home, isn't the reason why he hasn't accomplished as much as people would like because he is trying to put all his policies through congress instead of making them executive orders, like the other guy did?

Hey not saying I don't like Obama, I like a lot of what he has to say, but even his most diehard fans have to admit that many of his words are only words thus far.
And yeah, he is avoiding the executive order route and that's a good thing, but of course it just plays into the GOP's obstructionist minority tactics. I wouldn't mind such tactics so much if they weren't driven by such apparent hatred for Obama and his administration...I mean, c'mon, the democrats hated Bush but at least they took his policy decisions on a more case-by-case basis, at least I did.
I know I know, I'm being a hypocrite and claiming "us versus them" from the right wing which is just another "us versus them" mentality in the first place...so shoot me.

No, You're right on. I lean a little right and the way the Reps are acting is embarrassing.
Bjorn, I'm not saying that Obama isn't doing anything, just that it's way too soon. The guy was nominated in Feb. for crying out loud.

I broke up a bar fight last year and got a Nobel Peace Prize, shortly thereafter, I found out that if I added salt to the water I boil my ramen in it will boil faster and won a Nobel Prize in the realm of chemistry.

well to be fair, Obama himself has said that he was not worthy of it yet, and that he plans to use the award as a "call to action" to get things done. But if you really think about it.. Perhaps the award is just a reflection of how much the entire world has changed their views about the U.S.
And all because of Obama.

^^ Umm...doey-eyed fangirl alert?
I agree the reason he got it is because he's pleasing to the international community, it's the explanation that makes the most sense.

isnt this at least 50% of what it takes to be a successful politician?
