1990, 5spd, 138k miles, no accidents, new top, glass back window, it's a bit shaky at 70mph but i think the wheels aren't balanced properly, and i paid $1600. It's gonna be my fuck around toy. I plan on some coilovers, 15" wheels, and some sticky tires, and that's it. and no i'm not gay.

Yeah, Hex you would, once you've thrown 5 different sets of wheels on it and resold 4 times.

No way, he'd never drive it. Wouldn't want to risk lowering the resale value further by putting on more k's.

You fuckin' bastard, that's what I want.
The 65-70 MPH shimmy is a common Miata problem. get your wheels balanced on a Hunter 9700 machine to a high tolerance. Also, is it a short-nose 1.6 or has the engine been changed or the crank been replaced?

yeah it is a short nose, but the owner says he's never had any problems, so we'll see how long it lasts. If anything, i'll just swap it for the 1.8 motor when the days comes.

You know you are gonna end up buying something ridiculously expensive anyways. Might as well start with awesomeness. You can always draft in hex to find you a LS3 for $15 and supersized happy meal.

V8 conversions are not what I'd do in a Miata, they push the weight distribution a couple percent to the nose and it's hard to salvage the handling, though some guys do it. You can put a mildly hot head on a 1.8 for about $2000 altogether and be looking at about 150 NA horsepower. If you were gonna do a swap, I'd suggest a KL V6 swap

Fuck, I need to get a bigger place, and start making more money, so I can have a fun car.
Nice little car. I'm assuming that for $1600 there was no hard top included with the deal? I have been waffling between a first gen Miata or a 914 for a couple of years now.
Diesel

no.. no hard top. but i was too late a red miata in LA for $2150 with a hard top.

got it lowered yesterday on KYB AGX shocks with Eibach springs. Rides sooo much better!! but now i'm rubbing. Especially with the new wheels 15x8 with +0 offset. But can't beat picking up a brand new set of wheels (not even brake dust) with brand new tires for $250.

Eibach Pro-Kits, I hope not? You'd get shot on any miata forum. The AGX are good though, that's probably all of your ride benefit came from putting in those shocks.

*high five* Diesel...joining the NA club

The 002's look good, but everyone has got them, which makes them ghey. You need flares BTW; they are too wide.
Keep the 1.6; they are much stronger than the 1.8
Look into getting a roll bar, or a butterfly brace, as it fixes up A LOT of the flex; it's the one thing I hate most about my car; it flexes so much with the hard top off. I just bought a TB roll bar, and it's in the mail, can't wait.
Also, get a racing beat front lip, and leave it black...looks sex

Congrats

I can't even be bothered to adjust the suspension on my Forza 2 cars, let alone a real car. Couple that to my propensity for trying to figure stuff out through trial and error and I would either wreck myself or the car before long.
