So i have been filing up a lot of my free time lately watching the onboard qualifying laps that the f1 site recently put up.

I noticed that almost every single driver reaches for a knob on the steering wheel (if its even called that, not rly a wheel anymore) as soon as they finish their hot lap. I cant figure out what it is they are adjusting. I think its either fuel mixture or radio, but it could be something else. Anyone know what im talking about?

For Monaco, the BBC did a feature where they covered the features that Nelson Piquet Jr. has on his steering wheel. Based on what I saw in that feature, I would definitely assume that they're adjusting the fuel mixture as soon as they finish their hot lap(s) in qualifying.

^ya, from the stuff I heard the commentators say it's the fuel mixture, apparently they lean it out on an in-lap to save fuel.

It might also be ignition timing, to put less strain on the engine for the in-lap.
