Full Version: good deal on an evo X or B8 A4?

I'm trying to decide between an EVO X with Sight Spoiler Sound for ~ 31 (new!) vs an B8 A4 6MT Prem + Sport Pkg for ~40.

Both cars would suit my needs. Both 4 doors and can get me to and from work. The deal on the evo is really good thats why its so tempting.

Any suggestions?

[UPDATE] I'm sorry guys but I got the A4 because I realized I was able to get 6% off through my company. After Audi's incentive, the bottom line price was $34,240! (MSRP 41k)

pics will be up when I take delivery next month :)

A4 is expensive and make sure the audi dealer is good.

The EVO will make you giggle like a kid every time you drive it .. the A4 wont. That said the A4 is a pussy magnet while the EVO is a smelly nerdy carguy magnet.
Personally, I would get the EVO just to experience the sheer fun of driving one of these turbo 4 rally offsprings.

If this is your daily driver I'd have to think that the Evo will not really hit the spot for you but I think the A4 is too safe and dull of a choice. Any middle ground here?
dcho
yeah this is a daily driver... what would you recommend to be the middle ground? i chose these two cars because i got the best deals on them... the evo being the better of the two.

A CPOed 328 can be had for less than 30k . Try it out.

Get a EVO 9 MR. If you want comfort you can get KW Variant3 or Ohlin Fixed perch suspension setup that will give you ride quality similar to that of the A4.

No, get the Evo X because it's already slightly softer than an Evo IX and you won't have buyers remorse every time you see the cabin build quality and materials.

All Evos have garbage interiors.

On an unrelated note:

They new ones even have factory wheel weights on the outside lip of their shiny brand new wheels. Even the guy at the autoshow didn't know what to say, he was like wtf yo.

hmm im surprised no one here is for the A4. any reasons for that?

I can't speak for everyone, but my guess is that it's because this is an enthusiasts forum, and until you start talking about the RS4, and to a lesser extent the S4, the A4 is just a four door saloon.

You need to drive them both, don't buy based on our advice! These are very, very different cars. I'd say Evo X, but that's just me.

I have a B8 A4 that I've had for almost 2 months (in 3 days it'll be 2 months biggrin.gif). I came from a BMW 325i and when the lease ended on my E90 I switched "sides" and now I'm driving the B8 A4. I have a 2.0T Quattro in automatic w/ Premium Plus and Sport Package w/ Navigation. Let me tell you that the car is AMAZING. Its an extremely comfortable daily driver (way better than the beamer), the power is there throughout all of the powerband (unlike the beamer, which would only have power like above ~3,500 rpm), the car handles amazingly; I took it the same canyons/roads I ran with the beamer and the speeds I was doing in the beamer were no problem in the A4. The rear has A LOT of room versus the E90 too, and the car is a great looker I get head turns and people staring at the LEDs all the time, gas isn't too bad either depending my driving I average like 20-26mpg (depending on how spirited I'm driving and if I'm driving highway vs city).

Have you owned any car with the performance level of a EVO or a STI or SRT4?

I was leaning toward the Evo for the aforementioned excitement factor, but the A4 is a very nice car, especially Quattro 6-speed w/ Sport Package (basically, you got the best A4 short of an S or an RS IMO). I'm sure you will enjoy it immensely. And edmund's A4 Avant (similarly equipped but with the tiptronic) puts up handling numbers that puts it squarely in Porsche Boxster territory, which continues to impress me.

Congrats on the car! You'll love it! Mines Ibis White too! If you can try to do the VAGCOM codes so the LEDs dont turn off when blinking and things like that. If you're into modding check out AudiZine lots of info there..

Good choice. The Evo's nice but too boy-racer for my taste.

Which engine in the A4?

Very good choice! Just don't hope to see me on the streets because then its game over Raspberry.gif

You'll void your warranty but when the time comes, you have a huge selection of modifications you can do to your car. Stasis, APR, AWE, ACH Tuning all make great products for Audi.
