I just bought a new psu since my old one just died on me.... But the one I bought does not let my computer load for some reason. I hear some really quiet (sort of like gun shootings) in my hard drive. The thing im concerned with is the fact that psu is ATX 2.0. Here are the links to my motherboard and the psu that i just bought...

MY MOTHERBOARD

I have got 2 options.. Either it is defective, im sending it back to newegg for RMA, or it is not compatible.
What do you guys think ?

In general, the ATX standards are developed to be backwards compatible with older system. As a result, when shopping for a power supply, it is best to purchase one that is at least ATX v2.01 compliant or higher. These power supplies will still function with older ATX systems using the 20-pin main power connector.

according to that, even if your mobo is ATX, it should work with the 2.0. it might be that its defective.

what are your computer specs? maybe it dusnt have enought juice to run your system.

What specifically is the computer doing? The fans spin up but nothing else? Do you see the POST screen? OS partially loads?

At first... the one i bought from newegg would power up the fans but os wouldnt load up. now it doesnt do anything... The one I got from bestbuy does not do anything at all. Click, click nothing... I sent thermaltake customer support an email with the situation, waiting for a response.

Have you tried the motherboard outside of the case to verify it's not grounding out? Removing all unnecessary add-ons.

clicking from the hard drive? sounds like hard drive failure to me. Does the computer post at all?

Computer, same setup works with a different pwer supply. Not with the ones I recently bought. I am currently using the pc using a 250W psu that came with my other computer....
Aircooled
That's odd, my new pc has a TT 750 watt psu...
