So my dad walks in after work yesterday, and hands me a bag full of goodies. It's an HP Compaq 2510p. I'm not a big fan of HP or Compaq, but it weighs around 3.5lbs and has a 12.1 in. screen so it really is perfect.

Specs:
Intel Core 2 Duo 1.33GHz
2GB DDR2 SDRAM
1.8-in PATA 120GB 4200RPM

^ He never really used his old work laptop, so when they gave him a new one, he just gave it to me. I'll hand over my old Dell Inspiron 6000 (which is probably double the weight, with a 15" screen to my sister, and my dad will take her old ThinkPad (honestly I love her IBM, but I need more HD space than the measly 40gb it has).

haha we also do hand me down laptops tongue_orig.gif

my dad gave me his dell from work for a while when he got a new one; then i bought an acer, used it for 1 college year...then gave it to my sis in the 2nd year when she moved to boarding school, and bought myself a new dell.

save some money, yet everyones happy biggrin.gif

i have seriously always loved Macs, but i just cant get myself to switch over to Leopard when im sooo used to Windows.

I was actually planning on buying the new MacBook soon, but then this happened. I guess I can't complain...

^My family is kinda similar, the chain of hand-me-downs goes my dad (who buys a new Mac book every year or so) to my mom to me. Right now I'm using a G4 Titanium Macbook as my portable writing laptop, although I do have my eye on the 17" G5 Macbook Pro my mom is currently playing with.

My mom uses my desktop that I hand built when I was in high school. That thing probably is worth the most...hours of research and customization...lame I know; but all PC stuff I learnt from that.

My new one would probably be this:

I've got an HP DV9000 17" i got off craigslist for $400. perfect condition, 3GB of ram, 2 GHz Core 2 Duo, 250GB HD. i love the thing. only wish it had upgraded video for gaming. but can't beat the price.

how the hell did you get such a good price?

edit: google.
