I'm quite happy about this: the previous owner, a VW Technician at a dealership in IL, added smoked side markers, which is the car's only modification.




Expect some recordings of these cannons some time in the future. Absolute music to my ears.

The Interior

Love the trunk space. Good passthrough for skis as well.


The instrument cluster MFD (multifunction display) works wonders.


I don't have my navigation DVD yet, but so far I'm liking this unit (MFD2).


Mmmmm... let the debate rage. I, for one, absolutely love this thing. Great for cruising, great for driving hard. I couldn't ask for better responsiveness.


The only unsatisfactory part of the entire car. This iPod adapter is soon to be replaced by a Dension Audio Systems CAN Gateway GW16VC1 Adapter.

Overall... I'm just in shock as to how much I love this thing. It's so great to drive, it has the perfect balance of power and smoothness, and is a pleasure to drive on any type of road with any amount of aggression. The seats are to die for, and all the cabinet amenities make long drives (longest so far being 65 miles, so not that long yet) perfect.

I can't believe that I'm finally going to say this... but...

I know exactly why VW fanboyism exists as it does. Bravo, VW.

That's what I've read in the magazines that do it for a year-long review. But then after a few months, the novelness wears off and the majority would take a manual over the DSG.

You are probably one of the few people who actually wanted a DSG R32... The lack of the 3rd pedal kept me in my GTI. Not to mention the fact that GTIs are much cheaper to mod

Yeah track days are a blast and driver education is the best bang-for-the-buck mod you can do for your car. Anyone remotely interested in performance driving should attend at least one track day.

I may eventually, then. Currently I have absolutely no plan to, and I won't do it for a long while. Furthermore, I couldn't be a in a worse location for such an event.

Lime rock's probably your best bet.

Yeah. My uncle's been there a few times. I think he even did a racing school there a while back. I'd be much more apt to do one of those than put my own car out there.
