This is the first english-written article I found
Toyota bringing Scion to Canada in 2010It's about time, but still, the tC is getting pretty old and I don't think I would get one. I already have a Civic anyway.

Meh. The xD is just a restyled Yaris five-door with a Corolla engine. I think that the new xB is just a restyled Matrix XRS. The tC, as you stated, is pretty dated and no longer competitive IMO, but at least is something besides a rebadged North-American-model Toyota.
I think the "hipness" of Scion has been over-rated. Around here, the first-gen xB is typically a small business runabout, and the second-gen xB is typically a family vehicle. My 60-year-old mother owns an xD, and uses it to go places where her Outback LL Bean is hard to park.

I'm really not very excited about this at all.
My brother is a hipster though, I'll ask him how he feels about these cars.

The xD is actually probably my favorite choice in that subcompact market...I guess the 2009 fit's pretty good too, but the xD's 1.8 liter motor is more appealing than the Honda's 1.5. Versa, Rio, Accent? Fuhgeddaboutit.
If they sold the tC with brakes that worked normally and without the weight and complexity of that glass roof I'd be much more sold on it. I still say it's among the best cars that Toyota sells in north america (including lexus models). And the xB's a good car too, now.
Are scions hip anymore? No, not at all I'd say. But they're not bad.

You've been able to buy Scion from the Toyota dealers in Canada for a long time. Big whoop...

I guess having Scion in Canada will give Toyota a reason to sell their cars 3 to 5 000 dollars higher here than in the US...

not entirely true northpoint. ive only ever seen one scion at a toyota dealership.
there's a place in Geulph that was importing them since release, and there's a tonne of them here in Hamilton(probably coming over from new york state)

I didn't say they keep them in stock. If you wanted a Scion, since they were first released, you could go to any Toyota dealership and order one. If you wanted a test drive before buying you'd have to go to the U.S. however.
