Hey all you Canadians, just a reminder, it's voting day.
If you haven't registered to vote, don't worry...just bring a piece of government issued photo ID with your current address on it, and you're golden!

Only if they don't have your address on them...if you have your address on your government issued ID you only need one.
Just did that myself.

I love for canadian bacon.
If only we could vote for it. Our current choices are not very appetizing.

And nothing changed.
Billions spent on an election, valuable time in parliament wasted, and we have the same Conservative Minority we had last time (albeit with a few of the seats jumbled around).
IMO Dion needs to step down, and let someone who can unite the East and West Liberals under a banner of fiscal and social responsibility. Right now a lot of Western Liberals are voting Conservative and NDP, I think because they feel the the Liberal party has become too focused on the East. This is evidenced by the fact that there were a total of four Liberals elected between Toronto and Vancouver Island.
I think Justin Trudeau would be a great leader for the party, he is young, popular in Quebec, and has a family heritage which would give him instant credibility...which is important cuz I see another election happening soon, especially if we fall into a recession.

The figure I saw for the cost of the election was $330 million... What a waste.
Dion does need to go, and hopefully the mandatory leadership review will accomplish that. Justin Trudeau might turn out well but I'm no fan of family dynasties in politics. The Bush family should be enough to scare anyone out of the idea.

I personally don't care if Dion can speak English well, we had lots of time with Chretien, and his English was hilarious at times. That being said, I can see how it could turn Western Canadian off of the party.
I'm kinda worried for the Liberal leadership, cuz there isn't really anyone there, IMO who can fill the gap left by Martin and Chretien. Justin Trudeau is popular enough nationally to actually get people out to vote.
BTW, worst voter turnout in Canadian history. 59ish%. The speculation is that a lot of western Liberals pulled a Dion, and just abstained from voting.

That nerdish Dion has a huge accent BOTH in french and in english. This vote was obviously a vote-for-the-less-worst leader. I also see Justin Trudeau as a good potential leader for the Liberal party. Well he's not a good potential leader, he SHOULD be the leader, Dion needs to go, and fast.

Looks like you guys got what you wanted.
Dion will be stepping down.

Ya, hopefully the party will make a more clever decision about it's next leader.
Dion was a fuck you from Gerard Kennedy to Bob Ray and Michael Ignatieff. After he lot the first round of votes in the last leadership race, he urged his supporters to back Dion...which pushed Dion over the top (before this it was a two way race between Ray and Ignatieff, with Dion in a distant fourth, holding just 18% of the vote). I hope that the next leader is Trudeau, but I have a feeling that it'll be another cluster fuck, since the party is so divided. We need someone with plenty of personality and spunk, and someone who is not associated with either Jean Chretien or Paul Martin, or the scandals that went on during their years.
