Oh my god! Fuck American muscle, THIS is a classic car. Turn up the volume!
OHirtenfelder
Holy Shit! I just spoke to one of my colleagues at the mag, who handles all the classic car stuff. He reckoned I must search a youtube video of a V16 BRM, so I did and here it is...mindblowing sound!!!

And relating to your video, those being Auto Union Type C's (I think), here is one on start up. Madness. Check the mechanics sleeve!

DaGonz
I now the title of that work!

Mottowerk Musik in Auto Union Major!

You mean dedicated race cars sound better than middle-class-priced family-cars-turned-performance-cars? Never saw that coming wink.gif

I'm still waiting to see this "car" you're talking about. Unless you're saying these old race cars that can't even start themselves have more grunt than old $3k V8 cars, then thanks for the update Captain Obvious.

Oh...my...god...MustangAficianado, do you have to say everything I expect you to say everytime? You don't even need to post, I already know you're going to jump to the defense of V8s, muscle cars, Ford, the Mustang, and american cars in general.

I mean, I know I have my interests but I'd like to think that at least a few of my posts are a little surprising from time to time...

I'm going to side with MustangFan here. Regardless of whether he has a hard-on for Mustangs, comparing blue-collar-priced muscle cars to purpose-built race cars, and then saying "fuck American muscle," is an apples and oranges comparison. It's like comparing the interior materials of a MkIV Golf to those of a Rolls-Royce Phantom, and coming to the conclusion "fuck Volkswagen." Calling that an apples-and-oranges comparison shouldn't result in you being labeled a predictable fanboy.

...you cannot possibly take Dr. S seriously when he said that. He was just doing the typical "OMG I LOVE THIS!" overreaction that everyone does when they find something that impresses them. I cannot believe for an instant that Dr. S was actually saying "fuck american muscle" with any real conviction.

True, but the same could be said of the short quips that Mustang and I said in response. I still don't see why you jumped on Mustang, but that's just me.

I jump on things when I notice trends...sorry.

Here's some other trends:

Maxima302 likes Nissans.
Moe has a hard-on for Alfas and Maseratis.
Duke dry-humps Scoobies.
You're over-defensive about your GTI.
Diesel is as perpetually excited and positive as an Irish Setter.
I'm an argumentative douchebag.
Cyclone thinks I'm on drugs.

Did I miss anyone? cool.gif

Me and Fiber are on the aircooled bandwagon...

Trends? What you expect me to say? How often do I post? You're really thinking about what'd I'd say each thread? Or are you just making assumptions based of my user title? I wasn't the first to basically make the same remark (that i happened to make in jest). Seriously, look at all my posts and 5% would be defending American cars or muscle cars. Do I often comment in threads about domestics? Yeah, that's where my knowledge and interest is. Did i come in this thread happy to defend muscle cars? No - but i wasn't expecting a race car V16 vs pony car V8 thread either; and like aforementioned, the degree of apples vs oranges is rather funny.
Ironically I believe the last day I signed on i was commenting on how much i liked the TT Gallardo (and Gallardos in general) that everyone hated. Don't assume I'm so one dimensional based on a handful of posts you've read over the internet - I'm sensing misplaced anger.

And if this is just based on me making two comments about American cars in a day, give me a break - I didn't bring up either subject; and last I noted Top Gear loves English and often European cars; is that arguable?

It's all in good fun. I don't intend to make everyone happy with my quips, preferences, and opinions. I guess that's why their called mine.

pretty much...

I should just stop saying what I think because a lot of what I think does not appear to mesh with reality.

You are all fools of the highest caliber.

I had to get involved in this argument somehow...
