What has our world come to? They're now purifying tap water and selling it back to us? lol.. then again, you can argue that normal bottled water is basically the same thing. lol.. at least this isn't really hiding it.

...that's how a lot of the bottled water on the market has already come to be. I forget which brand, but one of the major brands just purifies the city supply for Miami or Fort Lauderdale or one of those cities in Florida.

That's basically what Aquafina is here in Dubai.
Last I heard though...
this is all the rage.

Being a chem major myself I can do one thing but quote a great quote.
QUOTE
Better living through chemistry!
Just because it comes from a NY tap doesn't mean it can't be cleaned, purified, and have minerals added to to to make it chemically identical to some water from a French spring.
The thing with water is that it just recycles itself in its own loop. The water you just drank could have been pissed out by George Washington 200 some years ago..

Tap water FTW!
Here in the Netherlands everyone just drinks tap water. But maybe that's because the Dutch tap water is very clean.

Tap water in San Luis Obispo is pretty gross, but at home in San Jose it's rather tasty.

Its because we have the best tap water in the world.
Not really, but its better than places like Denver which you would expect to have nice tasting water.

I must say, nothing is worse than the tap water in Phoenix AZ. You can smell it coming out of the tap.

Wasn't there some sort of massive PCB dump at the great lakes back in the 70's?

Anyone who actually BUYS bottled tap water, should choke on it! Really, that's the dumbest shit I've seen in a while!

^ That's a little extreme don't you think. I really don't see the problem, as long as you aren't paying a premium for bullshit like "Bling H20".

(1) Buy a BPA-free Nalgene bottle or equivalent.
(2) Buy a Brita or Pur pitcher and filter the tap water coming out of your kitchen sink.
(3) Save the environment the harm of dozens of 8 oz plastic bottles each week, and save yourself some money in the process.
Problem solved.

In the climate I live in, it just isn't practical to carry around a water bottle, because it's going to reach the temperature of the sun in twenty minutes. That, and the sheer heat means you go through roughly a bottle an hour. So I usually carry one, but I have to buy several a day.

You have a point. That's a concern that had simply never crossed my mind in the Pacific Northwest
