Lamborghini world debut at Paris

This solitary photo is Lamborghini’s teaser of a new car that it will unveil at the October 2008 Paris motor show. No other information has been released from Lamborghini's Sant’Agata HQ, except this single line of text: "It's not just a new Lamborghini. It's a new world."

What is this new Lamborghini then?

Lamborghini officials remain tight-lipped, but we know this will be a new bodystyle for the fabled Italian purveyor of extreme sports cars.

There are four distinct possibilities to our minds: a sub-Gallardo sports car (perhaps deemed too cheap and straying into Porsche territory); a supercar to match the Bugatti Veyron and Aston Martin One-77 (not wise in this economic climate); a 4x4 (long-rumoured, but surely insane); or a new four-door saloon (but why would they as inhouse rival Audi already builds an excellent limo in the A8?).

So it's unclear what sort of car Lamborghini will unveil on 2 October 2008. Suffice to say, CAR Online will publish the full facts as soon as we get them.

What does this teaser photo of the new Lambo show?

Today's teaser photo – the latest in a long line of annoyingly drip-fed pre-Paris publicity - shows a carbonfibre rear diffuser, twin rear exhaust pipes, hints of rear tyres, an egg-crate grille and the rear bumper.

Sounds like a classically madcap Lamborghini then…

Lamborghini is expected to dip a little deeper into parent-company Audi's bank account over the next several years. Although some of the money will go toward modified versions of the current Murciélago and Gallardo sports cars, most of the cash will be used to expand the lineup beyond traditional two-seat exotics.

One of those cars is expected to be the 2009 Lamborghini Espada...

A third teaser shot of Lamborghini's mysterious concept car has surfaced on the web just weeks before its debut at the 2008 Paris Motor Show. All signs point to a front-engine, four-door coupe concept similar in form to the Porsche Panamera and Aston Martin Rapide. The first teaser merely showed the car's rear diffuser, but the second showed its front wheel with a fender vent clearly visible that indicates a front-mounted engine. This third teaser shows the rear taillight and what we can clearly see as the cut line for a trunk lid. The taillight itself features LEDs and seems to be inspired by new taillight designs on the Reventon and LP560-4. Though we don't have a name for the concept yet, Lamborghini recently registered the name "Urus" with the Italian copyright office. All will be revealed soon enough, though expect a few more teasers between now and Paris.

If this is a sedan, Porsche and AM should be shitting themselves in sheer terror right now.

VAG owns Lamborghini. Porsche is in the process of taking over VAG. I don't think they're shitting themselves at all.

Uh...maybe I'm the only one, but I don't really care for it. Looks like a SLR, Reventon, and Quattroporte all squished together. Great cars by themselves, but not together. It also has a bit of a 1990s prototype look to it...like a Matchbox car I had when I was 6.

I love it! I'f I was a millionaire my garage would consist of nothing but Lamborghini's (and maybe a few others).

Does anybody know if this will be AWD?
