Full Version: Cadillac CTS wagon revealed

Cadillac is expecting that this will be 60% of European sales (not surprising) and 20% of US sales (surprising--I would have guessed about 5%).

I think they did a great job with the styling:

That D pillar is too chunky for me, but its worlds better than the SRX
clarkma5
It looks nice but it really makes the CTS look like a crossover SUV for some reason.

I don't care for the taillights. They look cross-eyed.

Any news of a wagon these days, is good news. I was sitting with some non-enthusiast friends the other day, and they were talking about the wagons their dads had in the early 90s, before switching to SUVs or minivans. They really didn't understand the point of their existence...I love 'em. This one in particular looks great, but that was to be expected. All the wagons in this segment look great.

EDIT: Here's the new SRX for anyone that cares.

I quite like it, it's very fresh for an SUV.
duality
the front of SRX a bit too much like the escalade, but it looks very aggressive otherwise.

as for the wagon..the rear piller is fucking gigantic..it looks more of a long hatch than estate imo.

I'm guessing that's the point. This would appeal to someone who would've bought an Escalade were it not so bad on gas.

I think it's because the slope of the rear isn't sharp enough. It's too dang soft and not enough like a V70.

Does the new SRX look like a first-gen Pontiac Vibe to anyone else? Obviously it's bigger, but they look remarkably similar to me...
duality
are you referring to this:

besides the general frame, i don't see it.

That's the second-generation, not the first-gen I was talking about. Regardless, I went back and looked at pictures of the first-gen and it wasn't as similar-looking as I remembered.
McKhaos
I really like where Cadillac is going.
Phix
Damn, that's ugly.
hexagone
A good try, but a horrendously bad rear. Those monstrous pillars? Please.

That has to be the most boring engine bay in the world.

Most engine bays are boring these days. Just a giant stylized sheet of plastic. Even the SL65 AMG Black Series, whose engine itself is utterly mind-blowing, has this under the hood:

...I guess that's partly carbon fiber, not plastic, but you still can't really see anything.

That's still miles more awesome than the Cadillac.

I was looking through photos of the Meadow Brook Concours, and the details have really gone down the shitter these days. I mean they're some truly beautiful cars out there, but the interiors, the engine bays, little switches...that kind of thing just isn't as pretty as it used to be 30-40 years ago. Everyone seems to be focused on function without the slightest nod towards form.

Comparing who has the sexiest engine cover is like asking what is the sexiest 19th century swimsuit.
