I was about to say it looked like a first-gen TSX. For an economy car, that's quite a compliment indeed. It's avoided the boring Corolla look, the bizarre Civic look, and the awkward Sentra look. Nice job Kia!

I hope it drives as well as it looks, and that there's a turbo version on the way (like the KOUP concept).

Diesel, in all my time here .... I have to say those are the worst photoshops I have ever seen from you. You're good. But, wow, those are terrible.

Maybe it's because this car doesn't have an ounce of originality to it.

Note the broken character line--also present on the Genesis coupe, in a slightly different form, and not on any other cars I can think of. I wonder if this is going to become a Hyundai/Kia trademark?
clarkma5
It's a very generic, but reasonably attractive, looking car.

shut up. it was 5 minutes of work damnit!

Looks like a TSX/xC/Civic blend. Not unattractive, although I'd still much rather own a Honda.

Edit: I meant tC ^

Agreed that the exterior looks like a TSX/Civic blend (what's an "xC"?). I want to see the Kia's interior. I find the Civic's Star Trek-esque layout downright painful to look at. Hopefully Kia used something a bit more traditional.

They should bring the 1.6L to North America and try to get better fuel economy than the class leaders, Civic and Corolla. The 2.0L they're talking about bringing likely won't do that.

Bland and inoffensive, while managing to be mildly attractive. I like that broken character line in particular, but the rest is pretty run-of-the-mill to me. I certainly wouldn't trade in my 3 for it...I'd much rather have a ProC'eed (spelling?).

i LOVE wheels!!

^ It's starting to look like your Scion.

Yeah, I meant the tC. Cerebral flatulence.

It looks good, makes me think of the Focus--no one's mentioned that one.

I actually don't like it. The broken character line IMO is extremely unattractive. I know it's just an econobox but the rear is aching for some fender flares.
moe
The rear-end really reminds me of the Audi A4.
GTR
It almost resembles the 06 Civic Type R to me, with a hint of a Saab 9-3 in it, but it's just my point of view.

I went on the Forte first drive in Seattle back in June and had a chance to drive the top-of-the-line Forte SX, and I came away distinctly unimpressed. Body roll, squealing tires, eager understeer, sluggish throttle response -- this thing was sport-tuned in name only. But that was a preproduction model. We've got a production Forte SX in the garage now, and I'm not even kidding, it's a revelation. Excellent grip, good body control, highly responsive steering...someone at Kia obviously decided that the SX needed to get its act together. Check this out -- the Forte shot through our slalom course at 68 mph, outpacing the brilliant Mazda 3s by about 1.5 mph. Much respect to Kia for listening to criticism and making significant changes on the fly.

Whew, I was so close to just writing this thing off as a well-designed failure based on the early reports, but I like the sound of this much more.

In SA it's called the Kia Cerato, and we had one on test just the other day, and I can tell you it's a properly sorted car to drive, compared to its competitors (Corolla, Cruze,etc.). Plus it looks a hell of a lot better than the others. Our test unit had the 2 litre 115kW natasp engine, and it was genuinely fun to drive.
And here is the Kia Koup or Cerato Koup or whatever it'll be called in other markets. This IMO, is a very good looking car. Pity about the engine line ups...

If you lower and put wheels on a Kia you go straight to hell, do not pass go

I'd be interested if they built a GTi/Si competitor out of it (and of course made it perform). But seeing as they haven't exploited the excellent C'eed to that end, there's little hope for this.

Ok that's pretty cool. Hopefully that'll translate into a go-faster version for the street. It's probably just a marketing stunt to get enthusiasts into a Kia.
