Had a puncture at 180km/h which was completely drama-free. Apparently some shrapnel from the road jumped up and punctured the sidewall. However, when it was time to change the tire I couldn't get the bolts off because the geniuses at Motorsport Wheels had put them on too tight to be removed with a spanner. I had to take it to a shop and get them to use the machine to get them off. Anyway, I need to go shopping tomorrow morning for one Hankook Ventus K102. Hopefully I can find exactly the same tire, otherwise I have to replace both fronts...I'm using the Camaro tonight.

The Ventuses were out of stock. Had to get two new tires, and I went with Dunlop SP Sport 9000s.

not to say anything you may want to re-torque all your wheels by hand... Excessive tightness on the wheels may cause your hubs to "warp" causing your car to shudder while braking; It has happened to me because tire shops and such insist on using air tools to tighten lug bolts.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll stop by the AAA tomorrow, and take care of it.

The shop I worked at after high school had a rule that you needed the gun to click for five seconds per bolt. I make sure now that when I go to a shop that they have explicit instructions to use a torque wrench.

I don't know if there's any truth to it but I did read that over torquing lug nuts can warp rotors. An impact wrench can be used if the appropriate torque stick is used. It essentially acts like a torsion spring that the impact wrench has to act against as well as your lugnuts. It really just looks like an extension.

Matco torque sticks I hope that link works for you.

I use a regular torque wrench because I already own one and it works just fine. No need to invest in the torque sticks IMO since I think I would really only use them for the lugnuts anyway. A torque wrench is far more versatile.

A local subaru master tech confirmed that over torquing lug nuts can warp rotors.
