CompTIA is a vendor-neutral non-profit organization which certifies you as tech capable i.e. capable of repairing computers and diagnosing problems etc. etc. for the industry as whole.

Geeksquad requires an A+ as do a lot of corporate IT positions out there....

I should try and get an A+, but I'm too busy working on a CCNA at the moment.
