The article does say 3-13 minutes not including foreplay, and I think 10-20 minutes is my sweet spot. The occasional quickie may be shorter, and going longer tends to wear out both my girlfriend and me. Total time is usually around 45 minutes. I can not see myself ever doing it for over an hour, I feel as though at some point I'd start thinking "holy shit, we've been fucking for an hour" and I'd probably hurry to finish up.

3 is a quickie whereas 13 is closer to an average intercourse. In the end it all depends on the partner, mood and occasion. Sometimes short is better for both and sometimes both would prefer a longer session.
