So Skoda may be dead and gone from the top-tier WRC, but this new Super 2000 car looks pretty slick. I'd like to see Skoda back in the WRC sooner or later so hopefully this might lead back to that? Who knows...anyway...

QUOTE
The Fabia S2000 is powered by a normally aspirated 280-horsepower four-cylinder engine that sends its power through a six-speed sequential gearbox to a four-wheel-drive system with three mechanical diff locks, complying with FIA's latest "Super 2000" regulations.

To be sold in full racing trim, including bucket seats by Sparco, a roll cage and a totally modified exterior, the S2000 caters to both amateur racers and professionals. The price tag will likely approach a quarter of a million dollars.

That's pretty sweet, I'd love to see a homologation version.

Yeah hopefully Skoda will be back. The WRC needs more teams. If Peugeot, Skoda and Mitsubishi returned it would be more interesting.

Toyota too tongue.gif. Are there any general reasons for why a manufacturer would leave? I'm curious but I don't want to make anyone tell me the whole story.

Well Peugeot started a LeMans effort, Don't really know much about why the others left (or if that's even the reason why Peugeot left)...but it kinda takes some wind from the sails of the new EVO to think that it's no longer a homoligation model.

Toyota left because they wanted to move their focus to F1. We all know how that's worked out for them...I remember the days of Carlos Sainz in the Corolla...the Celica, Supra, and MR were all still in production, there was even a hot hatch Corolla worth considering on sale then. Those were good days, before the darkness that swallowed Toyota whole....
