Photos as requested,

Ok here is my car, the photos are old and craptastic and some has changed not much though. For the most part the car remains stock.

Plans for it , undecided at the moment most likely just cams software and sways and coils. Forced induction is all but ruled out I want to keep it as a daily driver not make it into a power monster that dies every other day on the way to work.

Yay I fucking love the R32. I say keep it dead stock, or maybe an exhaust. Leave its brilliance unmolested.

Nice car there!

theres nothing brilliant about a stock r32.
intake exhaust and cams would be amazing.

Lies. Tied for the Mazdaspeed Protege for the best car I've ever driven.
Mastiff
Thank you for the complements, it will be left stock for the most part for reliability reasons…or at least as reliable as a VW can be.

The only thing that will be improved will be a new stock color paint job due to a body shops two botched attempts at repairing rock chips now it needs a total re-spay due to the incompetence.

I was planning on going all out with this car but then I realized I haven’t won the lottery yet so that dream bubble was burst.
clarkma5
Everyone molests the R32 so it's nice to see one that isn't overtly fucked with. Such a shame that VW limited production on these...
Mastiff
To be honest the limited production was one of the more appealing factors of the car to me. But then again I am a sucker for rare / limited production or odd ball cars and my wallet some times shows the aftermath.

Yeah well the R32 would never have been a mainstream car even if it wasn't restricted to 5000 units...I just think it's a shame that they were so hard to get when they were new and finding a good used one is nigh impossible, particularly for anything resembling a reasonable price. They just don't depreciate.
Ozi
sick car man. I love it. I love the way that thing sounds.
moethepaki
Sweet ride man. I love the MKIV R32s.

So does that mean a mkV R32 would be a solid investment?

^ Buy one Bjorn. Do it.

I am a freelance writer who has a kid on the way and I am trying to buy a house in a market which is jumping up in value by about 10% every 6 months. I can't afford shit.

Depends the Mk IV was holding value rock solid for the longest time and now its edge has been taken down a notch.
The Mk V started high and now I am being told the dealers will work with the buyers because they are becoming lot queens.
What it boils down to in the end it’s a car and a car is a horrible investment 99% of the time.
b0mb3r
Sweet car! Its nice to see all the dub owners around here tongue.gif But yeah, if MKV R32 came with a standard 6 speed, there would be one sitting on my driveway right now.
Mastiff
A lot of people echo what you’re saying about the DSG only as standard trim in North America.
That along with price I feel is why they are still on the lots and slowly becoming lot queens.

If and this is a huge “if” VWOA would just hire a real world consultant e.g. VW enthusiasts, I think they might just be able to win back some of the lost market share and in turn we would see more stuff like the .:R 32 being turned out.

But hey I could be out to lunch also so who knows…

Bjorn
I often wonder about being out to lunch in regards to my steadfast support of traditional manual transmissions. Sometimes it seems like they are still around to please a slim segment of journalists and enthusiasts.
b0mb3r
The DSG is quicker then the manual... but i think people forget that sometimes faster is not better.

Nice R32!! thumbs_up.gif
Synesthesia
Nice! Is the color in your avatar your dream color? I say go for it...love that color on R32s. wink.gif
Mastiff
Not my dream color… I like the reflex silver as it draws less attention when doing “spirited driving”.

The photo of the deep blue pearl .:R in the avatar is one that Boki-san posted up on the VW Vortex over a year ago.
It was from a get together out on the salt flats, the full size photo is just beautiful, and his cat walking out on the salt flat just adds to the overall shot in my opinion.
I whish Boki-san would still post as he had a uniquely Zen like view of life but he wont post in the .:R form anymore.
BarcaGaffer
lol I thought it was a Skyline R32 sad.gif
