Speculation is circulating around the automotive media that Nissan is preparing a revised version of the Z-car. According to reports, the 350Z will turn into the 370Z when Nissan updates the sportscar with the 3.7-liter V6 in its recently-revised sibling, the Infiniti G37 coupe. Whether the Japanese automaker will use this opportunity to facelift the model altogether as anticipated remains to be seen.
The reports suggest that the 370Z will be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show, home turf to Nissan's sister-company Renault, this coming October.

A name alteration may well be in order.

Damn, the cost of my reasonably-priced dream car just went up. We'll see if they ruin it in the process.

Hey, maybe it'll weigh less?

The way Nissan's designs are going, I wouldn't expect it to be pretty.

eff that... if you are going to buy fast, small, reasonable priced, somewhat ugly designed car; go to your favorite BMW dealer and buy 135i.
I am sure performance wise the 135 won't be too far behind the 370.

The 135i is about $5k (or more) more than the Z and early reviews say the 135i is quite understeer-ey, to appeal to those coming from FWD hot hatches.

^ That, and the Z, at least in it's present form, is sooooooooo much sexier than a 135i that it hurts.

I was never a huge fan of the 350z design but there is no point arguing that it is better then the 135.
So what the thing under steers, it still would possess close to 50-50 weight distribution... and some small suspension tweaks should be able to fix any under steer problems..
My biggest problem with the 1 series in general is interior... the BMW interiors used to be fantastic in a sense that they had a real purpose to them.. now they are just boring and look pretty ordinary.
Still, the idea of a small RWD coupe with 300HP twin turbo motor is pretty enticing to me!
Bump.

Winding Road's man from Japan, Peter Nunn, supposedly has it on good authority that Nissan's new Z-car is headed to Los Angeles this November for its official unveiling. According to Nunn's source, the 370Z looks "fantastic," despite it being a more evolutionary design.
The really interesting tidbit from Nunn is that the new Z will be shorter than the outgoing model by around four inches. That might curtail speculation that the spy shots we've seen of a chopped 350Z was a new rear-wheel-drive model that could resurrect the Silvia nameplate. Too bad. But the 370Z will be sporting the 3.7-liter V6 found in the Infiniti G37 coupe, a slightly wider track and, hopefully, will shed a few pounds from the outgoing model.

I like this smaller talk. I just hope they ditch the rear strut brace.

The source is winding road...I wouldn't be surprised if those guys claimed it was going to be a four seat FWD V12...

Winding Road is the least reliable source for new cars. I'd be interested to see the sketches.
