It's been all the rage in motorsports recently: Formula One refugees hopping the trans-Atlantic to race in NASCAR. Juan Pablo Montoya has found considerably more success than Jacques Villeneuve (even Michael Schumacher was offered a drive), but they could have some company soon.
Recently interviewed by ESPN, F1's elder helmsman David Coulthard said he would consider racing in NASCAR in the future. The Scottish driver is now entering his 15th season in F1, having started with Williams and driven nine seasons for McLaren before brokering Red Bull's purchase of Jaguar Racing from Ford. If DC did decide to make the switch, Red Bull's NASCAR team (pictured, right) could potentially provide him with an "in".
Although once a competitive driver, Coulthard has slipped to back-marker status over the past few seasons, and may soon have to face retirement from F1. If he does, NASCAR could offer a challenging alternative – joining his long-time friend Jacques in stock cars – because DC stated he was less keen on the idea of racing in IndyCars.

I wonder how the Good Old Boys feel about European, Canadian and South American F1 drivers driving stock cars.

I'd rather learn about her and what she's doing too

You could put every great F1 driver ever in a NASCAR race and it would still be boring as hell to watch. 2000 left turns? No thank you.
Apart from the presumably large difference in money, why don't some of these F1 "rejects" go to things like touring/le mans racing? Seems like they would have a better chance at success and fame in Europe on road courses than big ovals in the US where they're just "the guy with the funny name".

Villeneuve did Le Mans this year, I think they'd be better at proper courses, but then you don't want has-been F1 drivers just getting a seat because of who they were instead of new talent perhaps.

It might also be a publicity thing.
NASCAR is at least a chance to stay in the spotlight since, at least in North America, endurance driver are not celebrities...For example I probably couldn't name more than a few Endurance racers off the top of my head (let me try...Patric Long....and I'm done)...where I could name a whole host of NASCAR drivers, even though you would need a clockwork orange set up to get me to watch a race.

True, but I don't see many NASCAR fans as the type of racing fans who would even know who JPM or Villeneuve or Coulthard even are, so they wouldn't really be in the spotlight other than the fact that they're the "weird foreign drivers" to NASCAR fans.

My dream is for non-redneck drivers to take over NASCAR, complain about the shittiness of the cars and tracks, influence it, and have it eventually develop into more of a trans-am 1970's type thing, with great drivers, great tracks, and great machines.
HAH.

That'd be one hell of a miracle, but a sweet one.

I think you have the mistaken impression that NASCAR cares more about it's drivers than it does the sponsorship money.

Oh snap.
And this goes to show that money wins every time. Also, it goes to show that even though there is lots of good racing to be had out there, most folks still choose to bitch about NASCAR every chance they get. Go watch Speed World Challenge, you punks.
