I documented the process on a crappy little website I threw together so I could show my dad.

Link to crappy little website.

Now turn it into a Lightning.
Synesthesia
Wow. Not many people are crazy enough to do that themselves. Nice job.

I'd like to do a motor swap with a MegaSquirt EFI but I have to drive this thing everyday, I burned all my vacation hours painting, oh and I don't have any money.
Ozi
Nice truck. I bet it must be so comfortable in there.

Just a question though. Do you use your turn signals ? No offense but people who drive trucks of that type over here drive like they own the road, no turn signals and aggressive driving. Drives me nuts.
Tony Two Shoes
How did you apply the paint? I can't help but notice that you didn't cover any of the glass or the wheels, but didn't get any paint on them. So I can safely assume you didn't use a spray gun. Was it a rattle-can or brush?

I use my signals all the time. Even when I pull into the garage.

I used a roller and foam brush.

Here's a close up picture of the driver's side door.

I've polished the tailgate with the first stage of polishing and will do one more. I can try to get a picture of the tailgate today but a lot of the texture has been removed just in the 1st stage. I'll probably wait a month or so before putting any wax on it to let it fully cure.

Here's a picture of the tailgate that I already polished with a medium polish.

Tony Two Shoes
You've got a lot of orange peel on the door, but it looks like it buffs out pretty well from the pic of the tailgate. I applaud your effort and willingness to do all of this work.
Ozi
Man, if that $50 method turns out to be as good as it looks, I will just change the color of my GTI to black over the winter break.

Not that my word means anything here on the internet but I haven't edited any of these photos in any way. What you see is what it looks like. I do have to mention I'm in for almost $300 + my time (around 30 hours so far).
WackoWizard
B00st is a douche paper. Don't forget that. jk.
really well done though, and i must say i'm not a fan of that ford but that one looks good.
Ozi
yea, I guess that is no 50 bucks. With that kind of a price and little more wouldn't you have been able to get a professional job ? Having +30 hours of labor sucks though, I am assuming instead of spending that much time on the labor, you would be making $$ in your job :] props to you for trying it out though.

The largest expense was the polisher I bought. It was about $160 if I remember. I could have gotten a really cheap professional spray for about $500 and the quality may have been comparable. I took vacation days from work to do it so technically I was getting paid my regular rate.
